Hey everyone, I'm not sure if your webmaster has told you this, but the Element Owners Club is involved in a toy drive to benefit the Toys for Tots organization. In competition with several other websites, this site has not yet registered on the radar with a single donation. It's not your fault, I think your over-worked webmaster just hasn't had time to get you guys the information.

To compete, you need to donate either new, unopened Matchbox or Hotwheels cars, or monetary donations in $1 increments. The donations will be sent to YOUR WEBMASTER, not Scion Life. Each website is administering their own drive.

<EOC WEBMASTER INSERT DONATION INFORMATION HERE>

If you want to get a jump start on this contest then email, PM or post your support here. The contest rules are located here if you want to read more about them:

The contest results are displayed on this chart:

Good luck!!

I think this is a good idea, but is it legit?

Legit in what way? It is a toy drive... unless your webmaster devised this as part of a great scheme to get a bunch of free toys then you guys are screwed! :)

Just kidding... this is all for charity, so each webmaster is trusted to use the money donated to actually purchase toys for donation. I encourage my members to search for unopened Matchbox/Hotwheels cars on eBay and have them shipped to me. This makes it easier for me to deal with the results instead of having to account for the money.

I encourage you to do the same. A member on my site assembled a list of auctions: (scroll halfway down)

I've been swamped - sorry - and have not had time to coordinate this. I have emailed one member to see if she has any interest. It's a great cause. If any members are willing to run our club's side of it - please let me know ASAP.

Thanks!

That would be me, and I have gladly accepted T Mac's request for a bit of help with this, so as soon as he gets back to be with full details I will post information for everyone!

What a great cause and I look forward to a great deal of participation from our happy 'lil E family!

Too bad the E models are so Expensive - we could give those away!

I think we should ask some sponsors to help us out so we can win this contest and make a ton of kids happy.

I had been mulling over suggesting a holiday charity thing, so I am glad it came up. I like to sponsor needy families for the holidays and this is a great way to give back!

Amy.....I have a couple of penny racers from my collection that I will be adding into the donation.

I will also keep an eye out for when Target and or Walmart put thier Matchbox cars on sale and buy a whole mess of them! Target sometimes puts them on sale for $.66 and I think every now and again Walmart runs them for $.59 (I have 4 nephews, and one of them has like 300 Matchbox Cars and one E penny racer!).

I have a paypal account and will get that up on the boards so it will be easier for those who want to donate. Plus of course I will post snail mail info and the likes for those who would prefer to mail a check or actual cars.

Just checked Wal*Mart here they are $.94 for Hot Wheels and $.82 for Matchbox. They also have some no names for $.58 and several various priced multi packs. Do multi packs count as 1 car or as individual cars?

I picked up 3 Hot Wheel 3 packs (9 individuals in shrink wrap) for $2.00 a piece. Seemed the best deal but I was tempted to pickup some larger diecast they had on sale for $1.97 each.

I am collecting tomorrow and will ship em off Monday or so. Please PM or email me with a destination for FedEx/USPS.

Diane: We are going to turn your E into a huge GIFT BOX!!!

Amy-

As far as the "contest" aspect of this toy drive goes, the only cars that count are Matchbox or Hotwheels.....so those are the only ones that I can submitt in the tally, but I know the kids won't care what type of car it is!

Thanks for the current prices at Target and Wally World....I will keep my eyes peeled for when they go on sale (they always do right before Christmas!!) That way I can almost buy 2 cars for every dollar!!! More kids can benefit!

I will gladly turn my E into a giant gift box for such a worthy cause!

Hey....maybe we should start our own Toy Drive.....we could call it "Cars for Kids"......and handle all the donations and it could be a year round thang!
