StLouisPenguin 11-14-2003, 03:25 PM Hello Fellow EOCers!!!
Our Toy Drive has come to a close and I am happy to report that our grand total was 3,050!!!! Great Job Everyone!!!! Thank you for your generous contributions! Next Year will be even bigger and better!
Track the results below....
http://www.scionlife.com/xmas/results.jpg
lae10851 11-14-2003, 03:33 PM Where will you donate these toys? Does toys for tots have a place set up to receive on that day?
Also, is there anyway our site can get some positive notoriety on this (I know there is a lot of coverage of these toy drives in the media.) Maybe you could be on the news with a huge amount of toys and money from us?
I also think we should get some Honda Dealerships to help us out. What do you all think?
I am competitive and I wanna win!
Amy
lae10851 11-14-2003, 03:41 PM As our first Coastal Run takes place tomorrow, I am asking all participants to bring a hotwheel to contribute. Hopefully we will have a few to send you soon.
I would also like to issue a first challenge to the So. California E group. Let us see you and hear you on this!
StLouisPenguin 11-14-2003, 03:47 PM I have just emailed the local Toys For Tots chairperson and awaiting reply as to the drop off deadline, if I receive information contrary to what I have posted above I will post a different cut off date for donations.
Also, I am working on a form email in Adobe that I can forward to anyone willing and able to email Honda dealers in their area, I will be contacting the St. Louis Dealerships and our Sponsors (with T Macs permission of course) and , what the hect.....Honda Corp. too!!!! Can't hurt to try.....after all it is for the kids!
I should have the letter done later tonight, so PM me with your email addy if you would like me to forward it to you.
jtgeorgia 11-14-2003, 10:01 PM Donation has been forwarded. Happy holidays!
Redpunk 11-14-2003, 10:11 PM Whoo hoo! Mark one down for Georgia :D
lae10851 11-15-2003, 08:27 PM Thanks to the many generous contributors at the Northern California Coastal Run, I am proud to announce that I have a large bag of toys to send in including 14 Hot Wheels and Matchbox as well as several other car toys like Micro Machines and Die Cast Models. I would like to challenge other groups to get together and help the Element Owners Club help Toys for Tots!
If you people can afford to trick out your cars, you can afford $1 to help needy kids. Its only $1. you dont even have to leave your computer. Think about it.
Amy
StLouisPenguin 11-15-2003, 08:46 PM WooHoooo Go Northern Cali!!!!! Great Job!!
Also, just wanted to let everyone know that I checked out prices last night and I can get Hotwheels at Target for $.67 each or at Walmart for $.66 each.....so send me your pocket change and we can make a difference for the kids!!!
StLouisPenguin 11-16-2003, 09:11 AM Way to keep the ball rolling people!!! After just a day and a half we are at 72 points!!! WoooHoooo!!!!! I knew we could do it! Who will be the next one to make a contribution?????
We do have a lot of work ahead of us people.....one of the other car sites is over 600 points!!! But....just remember the story of the tortise and the hare...slow and steady wins the race!
************************************************** ***********
Also, just to let everyone know I sent out letters to al the dealers in the major markets of Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas, as well as letter to the sponsors of EOC. I will let you know if and when I hear back from them!
Also, I can't find a email address for Honda Corp......if anyone has it please let me know, otherwise I will print out a copy and mail it on Monday!
~~~~~~~~Reminder~~~~~~~~~~
If anyone would like the dealer letter to send out letters to their local dealers or to simply send to the dealer that you purchased your E at let me know and I will email it to you! Amy already got it for Northern Cali!
lae10851 11-16-2003, 10:21 AM I modified the dealer letter to include my name as well as Dianes, and faxed it to my sales person at my dealership. I am also emailing it to GMs in the area. I give them my # and email, and tell them a date I will be by to pickup donations. Plus I stroke their "E"go a bit. I am hoping it will work wonders. I tell them we must not let Toyota win, and that I am going to post the name of the local dealer that contributes the most toys.
Amy
T Mac 11-16-2003, 01:00 PM I just sent in my donation. I'd like to personally thank Amy and Diane for heading up this project for us. I was approached about doing it a few weeks back (that's why we are behind in the standings) but I have been very busy lately at work, home, etc. so I have not had time to do this properly. I can see now that it is in good hands.
I encourage everyone to participate at some level. PayPal will deduct a small transaction fee for each donation, so if you'd like to donate a solid 5 bucks, you'll probably need to donate something like $5.50.
**PAYPAL
Diane's link above is not working at the moment. As long as you have a PayPal account, all you have to do is choose Send Money and use her email address above (dianeepstein@sbcglobal.net) and the transfer should work fine.
Thanks to all who are participating, It's so much fun to do these kinds of things.
lae10851 11-16-2003, 03:27 PM Tmac:
We all appreciate your hard work and understand how it can be hard to manage many hats at once. Happy Holidays to everyone. Lets make this toy drive rock!
Amy
StLouisPenguin 11-17-2003, 09:04 AM Tom, you know I'd do just about anything for our happy little online community, and when it involves hellping children all the better!
DATE CHANGE
As posted above I contacted our local Toys for Tots Chapter to get the cut off information, and this is the reply I got,
Diane,
I am now enlightened to what an "Element" is. We collect up to the 21st of December but hope for before that so distribution is timely. We have several groups who will be dropping off their collections during our 24 hr toydrive on the 5th & 6th of Dec at west county mall(Under the Dove...)
So, with this new information, I am changing the donation cut off date to December 19th, that way I can have time to buy the toys and take them for donation.
************************************************** *********
Okay, now for the fun part, announcing our new total from over night donations....192!!! WooooHooo!!! Way to go people! Keep it coming, I am going to go and start buying toy cars today, so that I don't have to go buy a couple of hundred matchbox cars at one time!
StLouisPenguin 11-17-2003, 09:20 AM INCENTIVE!!!!
Obviously I am keeping track of all the donations, so I thought I would add a bit of incentive to this through my business (www.thegiftisinthebasket.com)....I will conduct a random drawing the day that the donations end of everyone who donated to our Toy Drive, and the random winner will receive a GRAND Gift Basket filled with tons of gourmet goodies, and I will make sure they get it in time for their New Years Celebration!
Okie Dokies Folks...that is all for now!
lae10851 11-17-2003, 11:22 AM Diane:
Is it possible to list the areas (state or region) these donations are coming from?
Amy
StLouisPenguin 11-17-2003, 01:33 PM So far donations have come from...
Missouri
Illinois
California
New York
Georgia
North Carolina
Hawaii
Virgina
I started a donations thread listing a running tally of donations
************************************************** *******
Also, today I went to purchase the first 50 cars at Walmart today. I bought 50 cars for $35.17....each car was $.66 and then of course their was tax.
I also hit a bit of a jackpot....the Hotwheels were bonus packs....so in each package there is a regular size hotwheel and a mini hotwheel....the kids will have two cars!!
By purchasing the toy cars we have added 15 points to our tally....so we are now up to 207 points!
Keep the donations rolling! I will be stoping by Walmart every few days to purchase Hotwheels....they sure do look at you strange when you buy 50 Hotwheels!
And just so you guys know, 50 Hotwheels = 2 Walmart Bags.....so we need quite a few more to fill up my Element!
************************************************** ********
I have heard back from 2 Dealers, one only donates to United Way, and the other is forwarding my email to the Owner of the dealership!
Also heard back from one of our sponsors, and our wonderful sponsor, Cloud Rider, is making a donation to our Toy Drive!
UPDATE!!!!!!!
I just received an email from Karen at Cloud Rider....they are donating $100!!!!! Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!!!!
I know what my E's next accessory will be! *wink*
StLouisPenguin 11-17-2003, 03:07 PM I was just checking out the other Car Enthusist Websites that are participating in the Toy Drive Contest, and the leaders, www.mr2ownersclub.com
I had to become a registered user in order to view their forums....but they have one post with all the details about the toy drive and another thread simply posting a running total of donations, with member names and contribution....do you all want to have a similar set up? Should I start a thread with a listing of donations, member name and ammount?I can of course put annonymous and an amount if the member does not wish to be identified, if they email me that request
Please let me know if this is something people would like to see....it actually seems to be working well for them, as they have rasied nearly $650 and some of their members seem to be a bit competive, multiple donations! Same with Scion Life's members!
Hawaiian E 11-17-2003, 05:39 PM Do you know where our donations for this drive would go to? Since Diane is collecting it, does it go to the St. Louis kids? or does it get distributed across the nation? Thats something i'd like to know.
I don't think thats necessary. Maybe you can put up a running total, or perhaps you can ask T-mac to put up a "thermometer" type of total, and show the increments, and have it change when it reaches the next level or something. Perhaps an outline of an E, with the color being added (EBP preferably) as it "fills up" with donations.
Maybe at the end, you can set up a post with all the names with different donation catagories (like SOP-1-5, SLM 6-10, NBP 11-15, GGP-16-20, SMM 21-25, EBP 25+ or something like that). Going by the point scale...
Thanks to Cloudrider for their donations and continued support of the EOC!
StLouisPenguin 11-17-2003, 05:45 PM The donations of toys will be made to the St. Louis Chapter of Toys for Tots. They will be distributed before Christmas, so that the kids can have a Happy Holiday.
I have emailed Darren at Scion Life, to find out if it is acceptable to donate a check along with a certain ammount of toys....this way our donation could better serve the entire Toys For Tots organization.
Also, since each car website involved is located in a different city, 8 (I believe that is the number of sites involved) will receive large donations.
I have set up a Paypal account in which you can simply and easily make a donation, use the button below...
Diane:
Your link should now work. If you check your original post, there was some kind of symbol between the =1 and cy_code at the end of the address. I took it out above, and it works.
****EDIT****
There you go. I figure happy kids anywhere are still happy kids, you know? Maybe we can get something together here also.
:wink:
StLouisPenguin 11-17-2003, 05:54 PM Thanks Josh! It worked for the first couple of days and then poof! Now it works again! Yeah!!!
Hawaiian E 11-17-2003, 06:11 PM What the others are saying is totally true:
If you can afford to mod your E, you can afford to give at least a buck to buy a hotwheel for a kid who may not get anything else for x-mas.
I was reading the story on scionlife's website, and I too am one of those that got hotwheels for x-mas, and was totally stoked. I still have all of those hotwheels to this day that gets passed on to the nieces and nephews and cousins and whomever else. I also have some that i've been collecting, and as of right now, I really don't need them, and don't even think they would be worth that much anywho...
Here, the motorcycle clubs go around giving out the toys, them or the marines, and it would be cool to see an EOC troop go around handing them out. Diane, you got any plans for that?
Also, I wanted to know, if we donated to our local toys for tots through the US Marines, do we get credit for it through the contest? Say we collected for the local chapters, can we count that as an EOC contribution?
StLouisPenguin 11-17-2003, 06:28 PM Also, I wanted to know, if we donated to our local toys for tots through the US Marines, do we get credit for it through the contest? Say we collected for the local chapters, can we count that as an EOC contribution?
According to the officail rules no....but does it really matter if it counts for the contest? After all, the important part is that the kids get a toy for Christmas.
I still remember the first Christmas after my parent's seperated. My mom took a job making $4.25 an hour to support herself, my brothers, and myself. That Christmas was very lean. Later she told me that she had only been able to spend about $50 on Christmas gifts for all three of us that year....and you know what? It was one of the best Christmas' ever! I remember I got silly things like chalk and silly putty and my "big" present was a Stawberry Shortcake small action figure....Apricot, one of her friends.
You may not think that a Hot Wheels car will make that much of a difference, but to a child who doesn;t have anything, a toy car is a world of fun! My one nephew is almost four and I recently visited him on Halloween weekend in Chicago....my nephew lives an upper middle class life....and has more toys than most children...but the only toys he plays with are his Hot Wheels Cars....for hours on end he played with them on my mom's kitchen floor....and the look on his face....truly priceless!
Just think, if each member of EOC donated just one dollar, we could raise over $3,000 for the kids!
lae10851 11-17-2003, 06:41 PM I would just like to point out that there is absolutely nothing wrong with donating a buck or two to the EOC collection plate and still supporting your local Toys for Tots organization.
I think the Marines would approve.
Sign me up too!!! I'll send some HotWheels to Hawaii for a look see at our EBP brother :wink:
Cause ya know I am a total pic *****! :mrgreen:
StLouisPenguin 11-17-2003, 10:20 PM Out total at the end of 4 days is *drum-roll please*
Cash: $295-
Cars: 52
-------------------
Total: 347 Points!
For those of you keeping track, this puts us in second place!
SCREWaerodynamics! 11-18-2003, 03:36 AM personally, i would much rather get lego sets than hot wheels! don't they statistically make little kids smarter anywayz!? haha, i'm only kidding...i dunno.
maybe contact someone at megablocks and ask them donate some toys for the toy drive too? (after all, there is a connection in the most recent commercial between E's and megablocks) you know, all part of the new E grassroots marketing campaign. =P
when's the last day to donate some cash?? i have extra steel gutter guards for the E that I could sell to other owners and donate all the cash for this toy drive.
StLouisPenguin 11-18-2003, 07:57 AM The last day to donate via paypal is December 19th, if you are planning on mailing anything directly to me I would say mail it by Dec. 12th to make sure it gets to me in time to be a part of the donation.
StLouisPenguin 11-18-2003, 11:51 AM No Donations overnight or so far today....did everyone lose that Holiday feeling???
Come on people it's for the kids...in this day and age when a dollar can't even buy a cup of coffee, it is amazing to think that $1 could bring a smile to a child's face on Christmas morning.....this should make your heart warm, even if it was made two sizes too small!
Who will be the first one to donate today??
lae10851 11-18-2003, 11:58 AM Screw:
Come on man, donate some megablocks AND some Hotwheels! Lets get this thing going ! (I have collected plenty of other toys besides hotwheels and matchbox.) They are all being sent in. (Toys 4 Tots wont mind if they arent hotwheels)
Come on people lets fill Diane's E with toys! Santa doesnt really come by sleigh - his ride is much cooler this year! (And EBP too I might add)
OK challenge to all that think their color is better! I put 9 additional hotwheels on EBP! (anybody going to match me or beat me)?????
StLouisPenguin 11-18-2003, 02:47 PM No donations yet......*sigh*
I was out and about and I coverted another $35 into 50 cars, and then decided to pick up 20 cars from moi'.....
So our new totals are....
Cash: $260
Cars: 122
--------------
Total: 382 Points
Okay, can't everyone just donate one dollar??? I know if you can afford to own an E you can afford to donate a single dollar!
Change Jar Challenge!!!!!!
My husband and I have a change jar (as I am sure a lot of people do) A couple of times a year we go and cash it in at a CoinStar machine at our local grocery store, we take the money and go have a mad day! (This is a much needed event, as my husband is an MBA student)
We cashed it in a few weeks back, so it is just starting to fill up again, but I will cash it in closer to the end date of our Toy Drive and donate all the proceeds to the Toy Drive.
My challenge is this....
Is to everyone to do the same....if you are like us we really don't think of our change jar as cash.....it simply is there sitting on the shelf.....so how about it folks?
If you don't have one, start one for the EOC Toy Drive......go look under your couch cushions, junk drawers, and your Element's coin drawer.....it may not seem like a lot to you, but just remember it only takes $.66 + tax to buy a HotWheels car!!!
Hawaiian E 11-18-2003, 03:03 PM Hey Diane,
Can you have Tmac link the graph of the donations on the scionlife site directly to the EOC Home page? That way we can see where we are. 2nd right now, but still only half as much as the first place group.
Keep those donations coming! 8)
StLouisPenguin 11-18-2003, 03:05 PM Josh-
I will ask him, he is still working on adding the Toy Drive info to the website's main page...he is a bit busy, but I am sure all will get accomplised!
Update!
I added the results graphis to the first page of this thread!
Hope that helps!
StLouisPenguin 11-19-2003, 06:21 AM Everywhere you go....they are singing caroles and the triminings are hung in all the store, lights are begining to pop up on people's homes.....and the EOC Toy Drive is kickin' it into full gear!
Come on people.....show your Holiday Spirit!
After just two donations yesterday, and none overnight we are sitting at 407 points.....I will not be buying any cars today, so the only way we are going move on up in the standings is for you to donate a dollar, maybe two if you are feelin' generous!
I don't know about you, but I sure as hect don't want Mazda to run away with this thing!
Where are your game faces????
It is for the kids after all!!!
Don't make me start begging! I can lay a mean guilt trip if you would like :lol:
StLouisPenguin 11-19-2003, 06:10 PM *sigh* No donations yet today!
Who is goning to come through for the Happy Element Team?
FYI......Mazda is over 700!! (713.63)
foxtail 11-20-2003, 10:50 AM Hi Diane,
I paypal'd ya last night. Buy some cute Hot Wheels- too bad they don't make an E yet!
Kristi
StLouisPenguin 11-20-2003, 06:38 PM Thanks Kristi! I will buy some cuties for the kiddies!
Oznecsad 11-21-2003, 01:46 AM Sorry Diane, I was waiting until I got my paycheck before sending you some money. That happens today, so you'll get some $$$. I ran into a few expenditures last couple of weeks, so I couldn't afford to help out until now. Check your paypal account around 2 pm :)
Oz
Redpunk 11-21-2003, 09:06 AM Maybe, if we get enough $$ in, we could get a few of the RC Elements from H and A. (Or maybe they would be willing to donate a couple?)
StLouisPenguin 11-21-2003, 09:15 AM I have sent a email to all of our sponsors, including H and A, and to date the only one that has responded is Cloud Rider.
In the letter I asked for any donation that could aide our toy drive. (the thinking here being if one of our sponsors wanted to donate a product...that way even if it wouldn't be suitable for the children, I could auction it off in the trading post, the proceeds going to the children) I wish my business had something E related, I would action off some things for the benefit of the children.
So....if anyone has a business, or perhaps an E item that they don't need....maybe you could take bids on it in the Trading Post, with the proceeds going to the Toy Drive??? Any takers???
Scion Life 11-21-2003, 10:52 AM I thought you guys would get a kick out of how the Supra forums reacted to the invitation to participate in the Toy Drive. They accused me of trying to advertise in their forums! Hehe...
StLouisPenguin 11-21-2003, 11:08 AM Hey guys just wanted to let you know that the GM of the dealership that I bought my E at (Stephen Vincel Honda) just called and they are making a donation to the Toy Drive. They already have a Children's Charity that they donate to, but they wanted to show their support!
She also wanted to commend us on doing something so wonderful for the children!
I am so glad that I bought my E through this dealership, they continue to impress me!
She will be mailing a check today.
lae10851 11-21-2003, 01:38 PM Right on! (is it enough for us to pull ahead?)
StLouisPenguin 11-21-2003, 10:48 PM Amy.....I won't know until I receive the check....but even it was just for 66 cents it would make a difference for one child!
I am going to go update the donations post....we had a couple of donations today, hopefully more tomorrow!
I will be hitting both Target and Walmart tomorrow to cash in some money for more cars.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
I want to take a minute and personally thank all the members that have donated thus far, in just one week we have collected $377 in cash and 122 cars....we are sitting at 499 points for the contest! Great Job everyone! I know the kids will appreciate all that we have done together!
*whoever donates next will be the 500th point!*
double treasure bonus score!!!!!
StLouisPenguin 11-22-2003, 11:58 AM This morning I enlisted the help of my husband and we hit Target and Walmart and turned $140 into 200 cars!!! WoooHooo!!!!! This adds 60 point to our total, bringing us to 559 points!!!!
No donations yet today, come on people!!!! Don't be shy! Donate a buck! I know you want to :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
Don't be a Grinch!!!!
StLouisPenguin 11-22-2003, 12:47 PM Okay Everybody, I just received a donation today (will not list the member as I am not sure if they would feel comfortable with it) in the amount of...
$250!!!!!!
This is INCREDIBLE and so very GENEROUS!!!
A HUGE Thank you goes out to this member from myself personally.
I can hardly wait until donation day....I just know that my E will be filled to the removeable sunroof! This one single donation is enough to purchase over 350 cars!!!!!
lae10851 11-22-2003, 12:54 PM I wish I could donate that much - Next year I will be employed, and you people better be ready!
A HUGE Thank you to whomever you are!!!!
Amy
lae10851 11-22-2003, 12:56 PM Can anyone figure out how many Hotwheels can fit in the back of an E?
Something tells me that we are going to find out.
StLouisPenguin 11-22-2003, 01:05 PM I just checked the totals and mr2owners.com has a total of 737, with no donations yet today.....we are sitting at 709 (after the incredible $250 donation)......come on people just a couple of donations today will put us in First place!
If no one else donates this afternoon before I have to leave for the Blues game, I WILL stop at Target and buy more cars.....can you tell I am competitive???????
Come on EOCers....show your support for children in need!!!!!!
__________________________________________________ _____________________
Can anyone figure out how many Hotwheels can fit in the back of an E?
We could have an EOC Toy Drive commerical....it could catch on like the tootsie pop and the owl!!
one, two, three....crunch!
lae10851 11-22-2003, 01:07 PM I hope Wal*Mart and Target are prepared!!!
StLouisPenguin 11-22-2003, 04:42 PM Cloud Rider is coming through for the kids in a HUGE way!!!
As you all already know they donated $100 to our toy drive, well now Karen at Cloud Rider has offered 4 Cloud Rider Grill combos up for the Toy Drive, that I will be auctioning off on the Trading Post Forum....100% of the winning bids will be donated to the Toy Drive.....this is unbelievable!!!!
So if you are about to buy a Cloud Rider Grill, why not hold off a day or two until I get the full details from Karen and put up the 4 grills for auction?????
Wow, this is incredible to me, the support from Cloud Rider and our members is mind blowing! What a great cause, and what a great job everyone is doing by coming to the aide of Children in Need this holiday season!
Many, Many Thanks to Cloud Rider and their generous contributions to our Toy Drive!

UPDATE!!!!!!
check out the following thread for full Auction Details!!!!!
Happy Bidding Everyone!!!!

StLouisPenguin 11-22-2003, 10:41 PM I just submitted our totals, we have 709 points, mr2owners haven't updated yet, so they still are showing 737 points.
We are only a few points behind the leader.....Target was closed when we finally got outta of the Hockey Game, so after work tomorrow I will hit Walmart and Target to turnn some more cash into cars! Hopefully we can get a few more donations, combined with the points we get doing the cash to car conversion we should pull into the lead tomorrow!
Don't forget to bid on a Cloud Rider Grill Combo Set on the Trading Post Forum!!!
StLouisPenguin 11-23-2003, 04:32 PM We need more donations!!!!! Come on Scrooges, donate a buck!
Also, after work today I went to Walmart with the inital intention on purchasing additional HotWheels, but upon realizing that we need to buy over 500 HotWheels I decided to talk to the manager....long story short they will special order us all the Hotwheels that we need!!!! I place an order for 500, and told them that I will probaly need to order more (once we get more donations!!!!) It will take a about a week to get them in, but when they come in and we translate $350 into 500 cars we will pick up 150 points in the contest!!! They will be calling me tomorrow to confirm the shipping date, etc........so if we get some more donations tonight maybe we can up the order to 600 or 700 cars!

Also, don't forget to check out the Trading Post Forum for the Cloud Rider Grill Combo Sets up for auction! Two bids have already been placed (thank you!!!)
StLouisPenguin 11-23-2003, 07:43 PM The mr2owners.com just updated their totals and are now at 914!!!! UGH!!!
With only one donation over the last two days we are sitting at 709, so we are 215 points behind *sigh*
I really urge everyone to donate at least one dollar (more if you can)....we have over 3,000 members we can do better than this! To date only 14 members have donated, if 14 members can raise 709 points.....just think what we could do!
Reminder: If you would like to mail a check or toys please PM me for a mailing address.
UPDATE!!!!!
Special Thanks to a most generous CA member for their donation tonight!
They donated $100.....so we are now at 809!!!!
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
With this I will be able to tell Walmart to order us 700 Hot Wheels!!!!!!!
This is so incredibly exciting! I sure hope another St. Louis E owner steps up to go with me on donation day.....because at this rate we will need at least two Es to carry all these Hot Wheels!!!!!
I am so super psyched!

StLouisPenguin 11-24-2003, 06:27 PM Howdy Everyone!!!!
First the good news.....ElementOwnersClub.com will officially take the lead tonight!!!!!!!!
Walmart was able to get me 500 cars today...so I exchanged $350 for 500 cars (a gain of 150 points!!!) and then when I arrived home from getting the cars in my mailbox was a check from my dealership, Stephen Vincel Honda, for $250!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Plus there were a few other donations, so we are sitting at $491 in Cash, 822 Hot Wheels, for a total of....
1313!!!!!!
lae10851 11-24-2003, 06:36 PM Its Rally Time!!!

StLouisPenguin 11-24-2003, 06:40 PM *giggles* I am soon going to have to move the HotWheels out of the living room to make room for the Christmas tree. I need to take a picture and post it of the Car mountain!
Also, T Mac let me know that Hot Wheels are probably going to be $.49 at Target the day after Thanksgiving.....I will be at work (retail manager and all) but I will beg my husband to go and pick up as many as he can.
If you have been thinking about donating, you may want to consider hitting Target the day after Thanksgiving! That is real close to 2 points for a buck!
StLouisPenguin 11-24-2003, 07:17 PM http://www.elementownersclub.com/uploads/files/HotWheels
lae10851 11-24-2003, 07:58 PM Maybe you should let Target know you are gonna need 1000 hotwheels on Friday!!!!
Thats nearly 14 cases!!!
StLouisPenguin 11-24-2003, 08:45 PM Thanks Bush!!!! I don't know why it wouldn't work :(

StLouisPenguin 11-25-2003, 08:46 PM No fraps for 2 days? So you're saying you can buy 2 fraps for $5? Damn im getting ripped off here...
Hummmm I can get a Grande Latte for $4.28......hummm maybe if I just get a tall and am extra nice to the Starbucks Coffee Guy I can get 2 for $5!

FYI to all that are donating and or thinking of donating.....I am kicking in the amount that Paypal deducts from your donation (they charge a small percentage of the money that you donate for their service fee) So, while some websites are counting the amount after Paypal's fee....ie. If someone donates $100 there is like a $4 fee that Paypal charges.....I am in turn donating that fee with every donation :)
So while I have only really donated $20 and 22 cars I am also picking up some slack in another way! Just didn't want anyone to think that I was not practicing what I was preaching to everyone on this post!
StLouisPenguin 11-25-2003, 10:39 PM Okay we are at 1358 Points.....now if Darren will just update the results we will see that we are almost 400 point ahead of the 2nd place website.
BUUUUUUUYAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

lae10851 11-26-2003, 10:05 AM WoooooooooooooHoooooooooooooooooo!
We are in the LEAD! Check out the pretty graph on page 1!!!
Lets Slam those suckers! We are gonna make some smiles on Christmas!!!
Show your support for the EOC, The Marines, and less fortunate kids!!!
StLouisPenguin 11-26-2003, 07:20 PM Hummmm.....no donations today!!!!! I guess everyone is just content in knowing that they will have a phat turkey dinner tomorrow and not a thought in the world about all the poor children with no turkey dinner and no toys to play with *sigh*
Come on people, get a buck out and help a child now!
Thank you for your support.
StLouisPenguin 11-26-2003, 09:43 PM No Donations today....what a sad, sad day for all the kids!
StLouisPenguin 11-27-2003, 08:17 AM Okay people there were ZERO donations yesterday......so lets get some donations "cookin'" today! I just checked out Target's day after Thanksgiving Ad and have Hot Wheels on sale for $.49 Friday and Saturday....I will go both days and am hoping to pick up a couple of hundred for $50/Hundred....so every $100 will translate into 200 hotwheels!!!! Think about how incredible this is!!
I have even called my Mom in Chicago and she will be hitting Target at 6am and buying as many Hot Wheels that she can get her hands on!
I ask that anyone out and about on Friday and Saturday think about swinging by Target and picking up some Hotwheels....I know the kids will appreciate it.....and if you know you won't be out and about, why not donate a few bucks so I can get a whole mess of Hot Wheels for the kids!
As a Special incentive today, Thanksgiving Day, the day designed to count our many blessings, I would like to offer a dollar for dollar match on all donations received today (up to $200). So donate a buck and I will turn it into two! I am so Thankful for so many things in my life, and I know that the Children that reep the rewards of our Toy Drive wil be Thankful as well!
So Let's get this party started people.....I want to see my mailbox filled with donations when I return from the Thanksgiving festivities!!! I know you all can do it!
St Louis,
What a great offer. :)
I will start you off with a few bucks.
StLouisPenguin 11-27-2003, 11:55 AM Thanks RML for your continued support of the Toy Drive and all the children it will help!
As promised I have matched RML generous contribution.....but I still have more cash to match....come on people get off the sidelines and into the game! Give a Buck....that is all I am asking and I will make it two! 3,300+ members and to date only 17 members have donated! That is a depressing stat....what a better day to change this stat than today of all days, Thanksgiving!
buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck, buck......come on people, tomorrow I will be able to change your one dollar donation into two hotwheels!!!
StLouisPenguin 11-27-2003, 01:41 PM Still no more donations *sigh*
You will be happy to know that we are a topic on conversation on the Scion Boards....EOC is kicking some Car Club Booty!!!
It feels great to help so many children, and at the same time leave the competition in the dust!
StLouisPenguin 11-27-2003, 08:21 PM No more doantions on Thanksgiving??? ONly a couple of hours left on my matching donation offer people!!!
StLouisPenguin 11-28-2003, 05:32 PM Okay people....yet another day of no donations, but I was able to hit Target and turn $342 into 648 cars......so our new total is 1814!!!! WooHooo!!!
I was really hoping for a few more donations so that I could cash in on this low low price at Target....the sale ends tomorrow, and I doubt I will have a chance to go to Target tomorrow :(
We are showing right now a balance of cash of $344.....but $350 of our donations are in the form of checks made out to Toys For Tots from Cloud Rider and Stephen Vincel Honda.....so that $350 will be doanted as checks.
Thank you to all that have donated!
hownowcb 11-28-2003, 06:55 PM You are one feisty penguin, Diane. I read your post on the Scion site -- what a crackup! Talk about rubbing their own noses in it! On a serious note, I hope our donation activity is only down because people are busy with the holiday weekend, and maybe away from home. But, come on, folks, with the PayPal method available this is just too easy not to do. Even I, who have been known to be grouchy on occasion, am at least a proud member of this guilt-free portion of our club! How about chipping in a little of the cash some of you saved on the "really good deal" you got on your Elements?
StLouisPenguin 11-29-2003, 07:13 AM On a serious note, I hope our donation activity is only down because people are busy with the holiday weekend, and maybe away from home.
Ditto!
We had been really cookin'.....but have slowed to a snails pace, and with no more money to buy cars we NEED donations to add to our total.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
For anyone interested, or thinking about going with me on donation day it will be Friday, December 19th in the afternoon.....I have emailed Toys For Tots to find out where to donate and the best time, as soon as a get a response back I will let everyone know. I know this is a busy time of the year for everyone, but I am hoping that someone will step forward and volunteer an hour or two for the Children.
I also let them know that we had already collected almost 1,500 cars! and that our goal is to collect 3,000 cars (which I think is totally realistic!)
StLouisPenguin 11-29-2003, 10:41 PM I received a box of cars today from the NorCal Coastal Run...there were 30 cars in the box, but only 23 count for the contest, but you know the kids won't care!!!!
Thank you to Amy and all the NorCal Element Owners for contributing!
lae10851 11-29-2003, 11:29 PM Glad to help Penguin!
I just wished more people felt the same. Its really sad that we have days when no one cares enough to donate.
:cry:
Amy
Perhaps everyone is just waiting for it to be closer to X-mas?
StLouisPenguin 11-30-2003, 09:17 AM Perhaps everyone is just waiting for it to be closer to X-mas?
I suppose, but with less than 3 weeks until donation day (Friday December 19th) I am a bit concerened, as I really wanted to donate 3,000 cars (my own personal goal for the Toy Drive)....I know the almost 1,500 cars will be wonderful!!!
I know that there will be the proceeds from the Cloud Rider Auction (which ends on Monday December 15th)....and I have had about 6-8 requests for my mailing address....so I am hopeful!
I guess the part that is puzzling to me is why more people haven't doanted just a $1 or $2....the mr2owners.com have TONS of donations, and most of them are under $5....but their total is still almost $1,000!!!!
Right now with only 18 members donating (plus the several from the Nor Cali Coastal Run) I really wish we could say 300-400 members donated....$1 each would bring almost 600 more cars!
I guess we will just have to wait and see!
lae10851 11-30-2003, 12:10 PM What about sending an email to all members?
StLouisPenguin 11-30-2003, 09:51 PM http://www.elementownersclub.com/uploads/files/1500Hotwheels.jpg
lae10851 11-30-2003, 10:40 PM Thats a lot of hotwheels, but still not enough to fill your E!
Come on people, just a little more - we are halfway there.
StLouisPenguin 12-02-2003, 07:54 PM WE NEED DONATIONS!!!!!!
Come on EOCers.....give a buck :wink:
lae10851 12-04-2003, 03:28 PM The Tale of the Empty Stocking
Once there was an empty stocking
It hung on the hook Christmas Eve
It belonged to a boy named Stephan
His poverty was hard to believe
He lived with his mom and pop
In a shanty on the other side of the town
His mom worked as a seamstress
His pop worked whatever he found
Times were hard that season
His mom tried to squelch his fears
He truly felt he'd get nothing
Despite he'd been good all year
He'd helped his mom with the sewing
He'd done lots of daily chores
He helped his pop find odd jobs
If only he could do more
And then Christmas was upon them
It was suddenly Christmas Eve
He hung his empty stocking
He knew it was better to give than to receive
He had saved his mere pennies
And bought for his parents with joy
New gloves for moms cold fingers
And a pipe for pop to enjoy
He awoke on Christmas Morning
To see fresh new fallen snow
It glistened in the sunlight
His eyes were all aglow
For there on the lonely hook
The stocking was in view
With a package wrapped in shiny paper
Funny how it hung askew
The package seemed to move
As he gently removed it from the hook
He was trying to open it carefully
That's when he knew it shook
The package fell all around him
The puppy jumped out with joy
The empty stocking was filled
With love for a little boy
We are not asking for $1000 or $100 we are asking only for $1 to help one deserving child. One child that may not receive anything else. How would you feel if it were your child and you knew they were getting nothing? Please take a moment this season and help us help the Marines.
Hawaiian E 12-04-2003, 03:29 PM Its a shame you can't get points for donating locally...maybe next year. :?
StLouisPenguin 12-04-2003, 03:34 PM You may not get "points" for donating locally, but ultimately you will reep a bigger reward than some silly points in a contest. I hope that all the members that are not donating to our Toy Drive are donating locally to Toys For Tots or another deserving charity this Holiday Season!
FYI....no donations yet again yesterday, come on people pony up a $1!!!!
MorganNJSOPe 12-04-2003, 07:12 PM [quote]....and I have had about 6-8 requests for my mailing address....so I am hopeful!
Now to talk of more serious things, for the last two days we have had ZERO donations :shock:
I am shocked and amazed in a bad way :twisted:
If only everyone would donate a dollar we could make a serious contribution to the children! There are only 12 days left of our toy drive, as our donation day is Friday December 19th in the afternoon!
Also, please remember to place your bid on the Cloud Rider Grill Combo Sets on the Trading Post Forum, the auction ends Monday December 15th!!
I BIG thanks to all that have donated and their continued support of the EOC Toy Drive and Toys For Tots!!!
lae10851 12-08-2003, 10:36 PM Come on folks this is crazy - the mr2 owners are catching up with us. We must do something quick! Pour on the donations! Please!
Amy
StLouisPenguin 12-09-2003, 05:32 AM Amy is right.....no donations over the last 4 days *heavy sigh*
We can't all be this idle.....mr2owners are catching up and before you know it we will be spanked in this Toy Drive Competition.....and come on no more bids on the Cloud Rider Grill Combo Sets????? Has everyone lost that Holiday Spirit?????? The Children are counting on us, lets make this their best Christmas ever!!!!
StLouisPenguin 12-11-2003, 10:13 PM Hey EOC Members.....
Check out the graph on page one of this post....mr2owners is just about caught up to us.....only one week left of donations!!!!
Let's get those donations in!
Oznecsad 12-12-2003, 02:54 AM Ok, I've been quiet for a while, but Diane and Amy have been about the only ones posting in this forum (and lord knows, Diane doesn't need any more posts, or we'll NEVER catch her)...
Anywho, I was noticing that we've been pretty idle for a few days now, and the other competition is crepping up on us. By my count, there have been maybe 25 TOTAL people who have donated. Last I checked, every member of this board is either the proud owner of a brand new 2003 Honda Element, or is wanting to buy one. And I've read quite a few posts elsewhere on the site about what cool new accessories we've all bought for our brand new cars. A lot more than 25 people, from what I remember. Seems pretty selfish, I think.
I work for the Post Office, and am asked every year to donate to charity as part of the Combined Federal Campaign. And every year, there is one charity that gets my money, and that is Toys for Tots. Giving gifts to children whose parents can't afford them is something I'm very proud of, and when I read about this, I felt obligated to help out here as well.
She's not asking for a lot of money, although those who have contributed have done so quite generously. Even $1 from each member will more than double our current total.
But I guess we're all saving up for that new Element accessory, and can't afford that $1.
Oz
lae10851 12-12-2003, 10:52 AM Good Points Guys! I hope all those men out there who think their E is the best yet will get out and throw a little love to the toy drive. Think about it in most places $1 is less than a gallon of gas!
Amy
StLouisPenguin 12-13-2003, 09:57 PM Alrighty people.....I have fought my way home in the blowing snow and now I am ready to get cooking on the final week of the EOC's First Annual Toy Drive, benefiting Toys For Tots.
I am calling on all members to simply donate ONE DOLLAR to this worthy cause.
Thank you all for your support!
All donations must be received by 12 Noon Central Time on Friday December 19th....I will be donating all the Hot Wheels and Matchbox Cars that afternoon!
foxtail 12-13-2003, 10:37 PM In case it hasn't been said: Good job, Diane! No matter what the final tally, you've done a super job, and I can't wait to see the final picture of the pile of toys! I wish I could be there to help deliver them.
Kristi
StLouisPenguin 12-14-2003, 08:09 AM Thanks Kristi.....it really has been fun and enjoyable....ya know I get a warm and fuzzy feeling everytime I look at this huge mound of toys in my dining room! I can't wait to deliever them on Friday! Yippie!!!
Also, Kristi thanks for your additional donation! :lol:
Come on people....get the lead out.....we need donations, the kids need more toys!!!
StLouisPenguin 12-15-2003, 09:27 PM No donations yet again......but I did cash out $49 for 100 hotwheels (I had stockpiled a few from when Target had them on sale the day after Thanksgiving) but that is it on the 49 cent hotwheels.....now I will have to go buy the 66 cent ones at Wally World when I get the proceeds from the Cloud Rider Auction or more donations!
We are sitting at 2100 points....I would really lik eto top 3000 points by Friday at Noon (the official end of the first annual EOC Toy Drive)
StLouisPenguin 12-16-2003, 06:25 AM WE ARE ABOUT TO BE PASSED!!!!
We really have dominated this Toy Drive Competition.....but with the drop-off in donations we are about to be passed and play second fiddle to mr2owners.....ARGH!!!!! Look at the first page of this post to see the talley graph....they are realy freakin' close!
Come on people.....show that holiday spirit and help out a less fortunate child.....give a buck, give more, just give!
Diane,
I have made another donation to round things out a bit :wink:
Good luck getting to the 3000 points, I know you can do it.
StLouisPenguin 12-16-2003, 06:45 PM Thank You Bob!!!! I will be sure to forward you tons of pictures on Friday night after the donation, as well as posting some pics here!
Come on people....we need more donations! I want to hit 3,000 by Friday afternoon!
I talked to SSgt Chad at Toys For Tots today on the phone and will be making the donation Friday night after my husband gets home from work so I will at least have one elf helping out!
Everyone can feel free to make donation up until Friday at 12 Noon Central Time....that is 1pm for our East Coast Members and 10am for our West Coast members.....I will have plenty of time to buy more cars before heading to the drop off location.
Remember I will take donations up until 12 NOON Central Time on Friday December 19th!
A BIG thanks to all that have contributed to EOC TOY DRIVE 2003!!!!
If given the opportunity I would like to buy everyone who donated a drink!
T Mac 12-18-2003, 08:22 AM Yes, I can't say enough how pleased I am with the big-hearted Diane and Amy and their work to coordinate this Toy Drive for our club. Diane especially has put in a lot of time and effort to get this done and sure, it makes our site/club look good, but ultimately this is about affecting thousands of kids who are less fortunate. She sees that. She feels that and that's what Christmas is all about.
Thanks also to those who donated money or cars (or both). This was our first year participating in this contest and we won by over 1,000 cars. So, that's exciting and we're glad to have been a part of it.
Happy Holidays everyone....
jtgeorgia 12-23-2003, 07:32 PM Thanks for making this Christmas (or Holiday, etc) brighter for so many. My new grill is great and I already have apparently saved a major rock impact, based on the scratch mark. Already paid for itself and helped a good cause.
We are blessed.
