Hey, I've been lurking for a while now, and all of the info here has been invaluable...but now i need help. I've got a 70-1721 harness here, and it's without the blue and white amp turn on wire. Meaning, from what i read here, no CD Player. That makes the baby jebus cry...so I need help.
Can someone help me locate a harness with all the right wires, or tell me a better way to wire what i've got? I've followed E-mass's instructions to the letter, and this is the only thing holding me back from MP3 CD lovin.
thanks!!!

I believe that the shop that installed my stereo just connected the amp turn on wire with a barrel connector to the HU's remote wire, and they also used a metra harness.

The 70-1721 harness I received had the following wires (looking at wire, not pin, side of metra connector with black/yellow oriented on top):
(dashes don't represent connections, they're just spacing: I had spaces when I first posted, but the browser just eats them)
black-----------yellow
orange/white---orange
white/black-----white
grey/black------grey
green/black----green
purple/black----purple
<none>--------<none>
<none>--------<none>
<none>--------red
<none>--------blue
So, are you sure you're missing that last blue wire on the bottom right?
I wired it to my head unit as:
ground-----------battery/memory/12V
illumination------[not connected]
left front neg-----left front pos
right front neg----right front pos
left rear neg------left rear pos
right rear neg-----right rear pos
<none>-----------<none>
<none>-----------<none>
<none>-----------ignition/acc/12V
<none>-----------amp turn on
Other than problems I'll be posting about later, it seemed to turn the amp on and work properly...
I did notice there were one or two wires on the OEM dash harness side that weren't connected through on the Metra.

so, here's what i have. i have the blue wire on the harness attached to the power antenna on my HU. I'm only getting sound on the tuner. When I switch to cd, i get nothing. (display shows signal going through, but speakers don't seem to be engaging) I saw somewhere that amp turn on from the harness needs to be attached to power antenna to work, but i don't have an amp turn on wire on the metra harness, just the one blue power antenna wire.
there is no specific amp turn-on on the HU either. It's an alpine cda-7894.
I have a blue and white wire on the HU marked "Remote." Could this possibly be it?
Right now I have the wires for the speakers wired into the harness, rather than using rca pre-outs in E-mass's description.
Do i need to cut the amp turn on wire loose from the factory harness and tie it in manually? I'd hate to do that if i ever have to put the factory radio back in, but i can if i need to. (I know i have to cut the factory harness off for the sub already.)
thanks!
