Hey guys. Well, as most of you know my E was totalled. So, I have something lying around my house that never made it under the hood. I was going to put it on ebay but figured I'd run it by here first and see if my fellow E-buds wanted first dibs. So, let me know. They aren't officially commercially available yet, but I was able to pick one up from a friend who works at Injen. They should be coming out very soon, if not right now. Anyways, I have no idea the price on these, I paid 210 for this and he said the price should be around 250 because it is their Race Division model (aka their top of the line series). I will let it go for 200. If anyone is interested let me know. Remember its brand new, and if nobody wants it here I'll just put it on ebay. Here are the pics.

Edit! What this product does is increases horsepower, torque, and gas mileage. It brings more air flow into the engine allowing it to perform better and get better mileage.

and here is a picture he emailed me of an RD series put together...not necessarily the Element's.

looks nice...too bad i don't know the reason for it.

haha right. It boosts torque and horsepower and gas mileage. I'll add that in the description. Basically what an intake does is it increases airflow to the engine, giving it better performance and better gas mileage. It will up your horsepower from about 160 to 170 depending on the quality of the install, and your torque will increase about 10 lbs too.

how do you install it?

Ya you really can. I had an intake on my last car, a GTI, and I definietely felt the pull. It's all on if that stuff matters to you, but you can tell a difference for sure.

What's the flipside? My understanding is that you need to be more cautious in wet situations, because it's easier for water to get into the engine with a CAI, right? What happens then?

As for being cautious with a CAI...I think you're TOLD that so you're aware, but so long as you're not wading in puddles, you're fine. I had an Injen CAI in my Civic Si, and it was THE BEST! I plan on getting one in my E just as soon as possible.

(speaking of which, is this still available?)

I have a K&N Typhoon Air Intake on the E that they
sent me for the SEMA show.
I don't think they have a price yet.
Looks good. I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

Where do we get the K&N. I want to swap it with the Injen one I have. I have the K&N on my truck and the quality is better. Can you post a pic of the K&N?

Is there any downside? like noise, or something?

There is no downside (other than the water issue). If that bothers you you can install the intake as the short ram versus the long ram (which i have). Their does exist a possibility that you would have to have the short ram if you have fog lights. I plan on changing mine to a short ram for the winter. (To reduce the possibility of water getting in the engine).

Another issue is that the INJEN intake is not yet CARB legal. They are hoping it will be soon.

I sure do like the better mileage and increased power tho!

Hey Surf............Did you get that intake put on yet? You know, the one you showed me at the Red-E-Surf shop in Alta Loma?

I have fog lights, can I still use the cold air extension?

I'll give you $175 shipped in a week or so

I emailed K&N about a CAI for the Element and this was the response. Please fill out the request form if you want to see a K&N CAI.
Dear Customer,

There is no FIPK Kit for your vehicle at this time. Here is a link to our
product request page. www.knfilterchargers.com/products_needed/ I don't have
any information on when a kit will be released, but the more interest generated,
the greater the chances of a release.

Please take a minute and fill out the form and you will be notified via E-mail

I'd be curious if it will void the warranty and I'd advise everyone to check into this before putting it on. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the intake because I'm all for the perks it brings. I'm just trying to look out for everyone's butt too. :)

Peace-

I can tell you that an Intake/Exhaust are pretty much widely accepted at any dealership of any car manufacturer. I've owned a GTI with an intake and the warranty was fine, I've owned a Civic Si with an intake and kept that warranty till I sold in 3 years later. My sister owns a Volvo S40 that I put an intake on and she goes in for service every month for something new she finds to break, and they haven't said anything. So I feel it's pretty safe to say that warranty will not be an issue with an intake.

Normally, no. OTOH, if you came in complaining about problems relating to engine performance - stalling, idle speed, bad gas consumption, etc. - most service departments will question it and/or ask you to restore it to stock before they spend time trying to fix a problem you might have accidentally created.

In other words, the merely obvious. Otherwise it's just a shoulder-shrug.

I think I'm going to wait until Injen says it's CARB Legal. Out here in Northern California, it's better to be LEGAL than sorry. But as soon as it's legal, I'm all over it!!!

The purpose of a cold air intake is to get cold air, that is air that has not been heated up by going through the radiator, into the intake. I think the Injen is the only CAI at the moment. The others like K&N just smooth out the intake path and have less restrictive filters but still suck on hot air.

yeah you do have to be careful around water as it WILL suck up water if its there, they do sell a sandwich type adapter that will prevent water from being sucked past a half way point, i would get this for piece of mind.

my bud has (had) a sentra with an injen CAI and one really rainy day it sucked up too much H2O and the motor locked up. yeah it was on a sentra but the idea is the same so be careful
