My heater will blow my toupe off when set to the upper vents, but when set to the floor vents if it weren't for the sound you wouldn't know it's on. Is this typical. What type of airflow are you getting down below

Did you notice that on the floor setting, some air still comes out of the round side vents on the dash? You can manually close these, which will force more air to your feet.

I noticed that also. So, what I do is just push the recycle button and 'viola' no more air flow.

when using floor, floor and defrost. or defrost, heat comes out the 2 round side vents. suggestion of closing vents and using recirqulation button doesn't help. any suggestions.

Okay, I know it's really cold here right now (~15 this morning), but the heater airflow on my feet feels non-existent. I'm with Cameraman on this one- if I didn't hear the fan, I wouldn't know the heat is working. I've tried all the tricks mentioned here- closed the side vents, put air on recirculate, I even pre-warmed the car for 10 minutes- and I'm still freezing. I have a 25 minute commute, and I'm almost all the way to work before I feel like the E is comfortable. :(
I guess I'll check with Honda service when I have the car in for maintenance, but judging from the comments here, I'm afraid it's working as designed.

I have the same problem. Even with the side vents closed. I think it is due to the rear heat ducts. When the heater is set to floor, or floor and defrost some of the air is diverted to the vents under the seat. My ass is warm but it takes 20 minutes or more to heat up the ****pit in minus 20. It is too bad you can't shut off the rear vents.

Rotate them so that they point *at* the side windows and then they're "defrosting"? :)

I may try stuffing something in the rear vents and blocking them. I have no friends to ride in the back :( except my dog and she doesn't complain about the cold.

I agree..The heater isnt exactly high power..The fan power at max isn't
ever going to heat things faster..It might even slow it down by blowing cold
air at max power over the heat unit it just cant warm that air..Yesterday
morning it was about 6 F outside i started out max heat setting and maybe 2 notches on the fan..It still took it's time, but i didnt have a cold wind
whistling through..I gradually turned up the fan..after 10 minutes it was
about lukewarm in the cabin..My old Chrystler had a heater that was
amazing, you could bake bread in my car after 5 minutes on high heat..

brendon i don't understand your response to my question. when i set the control to floor, heat comes out the round vents with very little coming out the floor. manual says some leakage????? is normal. i want heat on the floor not in my face unless i want it there. any suggestions. this is the 2nd element that i have seen this in, the other owner just didn't notice it yet

Mine does the same thing. I put it on face (vents pointing away from me), recirculate, and turn the fan up pretty high to heat up the whole cabin, and it seems to do okay, but it's nowhere near as cold here as there.
Have you done the A/C compressor "hack" so you can make sure it's not running? That A/C makes it steenkin' cold for a long time...
