Am I reading this correctly? The intake is two piece and can be used as a short ram or long ram? Huh? Can anyone explain the difference and why you would choose to shorten it?
I have a Weapon R on my Eclipse now and it is also a 2 piece (as all would be I guess) you have the intake tube and a rubber fitting to attach to the throttle body. Am I missing something or confused here? :?:

The short ram will place the filter beside the battery, while the long ram will place the filter away from the engine compartment, behind the driverside front bumper, and in front of the wheel well. The long ram will provide cooler air into the engine improving horsepower but will also place the filter closer to water when it rains or floods.

OK, that seemed to me like the answer, but wanted clarification. Thanks, long ram it is!

Yeah, I've had mine in the box for a few weeks now. Still trying to get a good sense of how it feels and how the gas consumption is before I install so I can at least tell the difference and see where my money went.

Keep in mind of what material the air intake is made up of. In my experiance, plastic intakes versus metal intakes, create a different resonnating sound with stock muffler or custom. Plastic type material seems to be quieter. But only in my experiance, I may be wrong. Any one else have any thoughts on this. And one more thing, their is a divider or heat shield to seperate the short air intake from the engine. It helps lower the air temperature around the intake.
