: Alabama, anyone?
jakabedy 11-21-2003, 05:04 PM Alabama? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone?
Don't actually have mine yet, but am working three dealers like mad and should be E'd by next Saturday at the latest.

Big Ole Marine 11-21-2003, 08:17 PM Hello Jen,
I'm in Mobile and have really been wanting to get in touch with some Alabama owners. I've had my E for about 2 months and love it. What color are you getting? Mine is Shoreline Mist Metalic. I would suggest not buying any accessories from the dealer. Everything can be bought from www.handaaccessories.com for about 60% of what the dealers are getting. I've added a lot to my E and HandA has the best prices.

Hawaiian E 11-21-2003, 09:46 PM Hawaii is playing the Crimson Tide in Footaball next week Saturday, is that close enough?

Hi!
My plan is to get a GGEX2WDAT with side airbags. One dealer in the state had one and just won't deal, so I'm likely going to Memphis or Tupelo for my E this weekend(!) I already planned to skip the dealer accessories. We plan to go through HandA to get the keyless remote and large armrest -- we'll decide what else we want later on.

Be nice to our boys. They're good boys. They just don't understand anything about football.

Hawaiian E 11-25-2003, 02:54 PM I've been to Alabama too. Always liked the Crimson Tide, but you gotta root, root, root for the home team...Its going to be a great game.
jtgeorgia 11-25-2003, 06:08 PM Its amazing that of the 3 Alabama teams we played this year the closest game score was UAB. After getting clobbered most years by the Tide and AU, 2003 was very refreshing. :D
jakabedy 11-30-2003, 09:13 PM So, just as I was down to an MS and TN dealer for a GG 2WD, a NBP AWD showed up USED here in B'ham. Bought it Tuesday and Wednesday took it over some rivers and through many woods to Little Rock, AR for Thanksgiving. It performed admirably.
And the bourbon my mother spilled in the back wiped up like a charm from the all-weather mats.
jen
orange cool box 12-01-2003, 03:07 AM Well what do you know, you finally got one. Please discribe what you got. Kinda surprized that someone sold their E so soon. whats that all about?
Congratulations
I hope you caught my post on how much i paid for mine. It under "I hope this helps" under the shop and test drive thread.
PS I have noticed that 95% of the people on this thread have bought the AWD versions. I simply cant see a need for AWD in Memphis. These are not really off road vehicals. We just dont have that much ice around here to fork over the $1300 extra for it. IMO.
jakabedy 12-01-2003, 10:36 AM It was traded back to the same dealer. (I checked out the story, so it's actually true). Lady bought it new in April. She has her elderly mother living with her now, and the mother can't get in and out of it. She traded it for a new Accord. It already has keyless entry (which I was going to add) and a roof rack and all-weather mats (which I wasn't going to add) so it worked out pretty well. I really want those fog lights, though. . . maybe Santa will put them in my stocking.
When we were planning to buy a new one, we were going for 2wd. It's Alabama, for heaven's sake. And the most off-roading I do is if I miss the driveway and trample the lawn a bit. But this used one came up and we couldn't pass it up.
hownowcb 12-01-2003, 08:05 PM Blame those off-driveway tracks on some vandals! But I'm thrilled you got the same model as mine, way up here just south of the arctic circle!

It was nice to beat a good program this weekend :D I wish Alabama would come back next year to play the tiebreaker...maybe we'll go up there!
jakabedy 12-02-2003, 05:29 PM I've driven my Montero for 6 years and leave it in 2WD 99.9% of the time. We get ice once a year for about 2-3 days. And sometimes it rains really bad. Otherwise, the true 4WD (of which the Montero has three "degrees" to choose from) is pretty useless. I think the E's version of AWD will be less overkill than the Montero's. But, again, if I were buying new I would have gone for 2WD. The mileage would be a little better, and it would have a little more pep with the AT.
But I'm E'd, nonetheless! I love my Stealth Tonka!

I forgot to mention. My stepbrother is a Marine helicopter pilot. He's in his second year with HMX1 flying the president!
Semper fi!

keckhanded 01-01-2004, 09:38 PM Hi I live in the heart of Alabama 2 miles from the home of the Crimson Tide. I have only seen 2 other Elements in town. I kinda like being in the minority. My wife and I love to camp so if any of you are planning a get together let me know. as for 4WD the places I go its like not having a spare tire. It better be there when you need it or your walking. the Talladega National Forest has Mountian Laurels that bloom in May (BEAUTIFUL) you can't see them from Highway 82.
vclem47 01-02-2004, 10:45 PM Maybe this the thread I'm looking for. I'm trying to buy an 03 4wd a/t shoreline mist and have been emailing 4 dealers. W/no tradein or financing, best I've gotten is about 19,700. plus tax and small doc fee. Any recommendations? I'm ready to get a deal done.

Seems high to me. What's the invoice price? On an '03 you should be well below invoice.
