: official Foglight choice?

what's the official word on the fogs? Im not shelling out the $250 so im talking aftermarket. I've seen install pics of the:
ProBurners (wal-mart) and the
CyberWhites (wal-mart)

anyone have any pics of any other brands of cheap fogs?? i saw some at Advance Auto Parts called the Z-something another....can't remember the name. they looked sweet though. i would go w/ the cyber whites since everything is included for the higher price, but i hate those blue halos on the outside edges. Should i just go w/ the proburners? if i do, can someone list exactly what i'll need xtra if i just plan on splicing into the regular headlight wire so they come on all the time?

You shouldn't need anything extra because the Pro-Burners come with a good length of wire, an inline fuse and a lighted toggle switch. I tapped into the side marker lights. I set the switch to ON and zip-tied it to an easy to access spot under the edge of the engine compartment. This way they come on when I hit the parking lights and stay on thru low/high beams. Also when I have to take the Element in for yearly state inspection I can easily click the switch off so they won't fail me for having fogs on while high beams are activated. I've had the Pro-Burners for over 5 months now and use them daily (or would it be nightly) and have had no problems with them yet. Not even a missing lens as Shen and a couple others have mentioned.

ive had the proburners for a few months and im one of the ones who has lost a lense. no problem though because the company mailed me a new one no questions asked. i mounted the new ones and sealed around the lense with some silicone adhesive to keep water out.

however, just bought the cyberwhites tonight. they just look like theyre much better built and they look about an inch more in diameter. i noticed that they have some kind of color halo but its easily removed by taking out the colored gel cap off of a small light inside the housing. havent seen them lit up yet though but i thought the color might look kinda cool, as long as its not on whenever the fogs are on.
cyberwhites are the way to go (theyre only $20 more)

CyberWhites is the way to go!

I purchased Cyberwhites and installed the second week I got the Element, they are great lights for the money. It takes a little thinking to mount the lights, since they are quite big for the openning.

The light kit indicated that it have and glow-ring, it can be selectively turn on if the driver wished.(the light kit comes with a double rocker SW)

Since it worked so well, I was thinking purchase a second set of CyberWhites for spare parts.

mageac - you're sure the blue halo can be taken out of the light? i would definitely buy the cyberwhites if i knew i could do this. i just saw them in the package and thought how i would not like that blue halo clashing w/ my orange E. i guess im pretty particular. let me know. also, are these much easier to install than the proBurners b/c of the extra harness, etc. that comes w/ it?

I believes the CyberWhites does give you the options of glow-ring bulbs, the light kit comes with several color bulbs (blue, red and green). As for the installation of CyberWhites is no more difficult than any other kit (just an extra connection for the glow-ring at the SW).
You'll find the construction of CyberWhites is far superior than proBurners, than again the price kind to reflect that.
By the way, toggled one way to turn on glow-rings and toggled the other way to turn on lights and center position is off.

Good luck,

For those who might want to consider a foglight solution that's less "well-rounded":

pretty cool square lights.

the cyberwhite fogs don't really have a "glowring" that lights up when the fogs are on, its just an internal light bulb with a gel cap (a small, colored cover thats slipped over the bulb). all you have to do in order to change colors is change the gel cap, or remove it for a white colored light. havent seen this though but it might look kinda neat with a white colored glow ring with the gel cap removed. im going to install maybe tomorrow. i like the idea that MONSTER had about using that plastic vent moulding to mount the fog because the biggest problem ive had with the proburners (besides the damn thing falling off!) was water getting inside the lense, probably through the holes where the wires were on the backside of the light.

Cyber whites make several types of fogs. I purchased the ones that simulate white light by filtering out yellow light.
This has a blue lens that mimicks a blue halo during the day or when shining a flash light directly on them. I have't noticed the blue halo during the day.
I think that you guys are confusing the angel eyes in the cyber white brand .
The angel eyes have the plastic color capsules that go on the small bulbs that light up the outer ring and come in red blue and green. They can be removed and you can use the halo for running lights during the day.
And of course you have the regular clear beam. The lenses on the cyber whites angel eyes are clear. I think the housing may be plastic chrome. The housing on the cyber whites for trucks is black and metal. See image here.http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=457945&cat=25&val=1

monster - so you must have the angel eyes w/ the blue gels, cause they are DEFINITELY blue. Does that mean i should track down the regular cyberwhites w/ the clear or white gels? where can i find em? in stores or on the net?

- Mike[/quote:15d65f49b6] Check the photo of the pakage on my link... The fogs I have come in a blue box and they're regular cyberwhites. "Whites" meaning that they filter out yellow ligth thus giving you a brighter whiter beam like the european beams.
However the truth is in the advertising... They really have a blue hue on the lenses and the lenses are thick olong the peremeter which causes them to have that "artificial" halo look
They are not Angel eyes with blue gel. They just look blue.
The angel eyes appear to look normal "clear" when the lights are off. They come in a yellow and black box.
You really should visit your local walmart store or automotive department and compare the both of them. Thats the only way you will be able to see the difference.
perhaps I'll post the photos on my webpage. http:/home.comcast.net/~mrmontym HAPPY THANKS GIVING

Take a look at these links they show the difference. I think that Either one would be a great choice. they have a 4 inch diameter.

mounted my "angel eyes?" today. they look like they were made for the car and their 4.25" diameter really fills up the entire hole. had to custom design brackets though using galvanized sheet metal so that took some time. thought about using the plastic mount that MONSTER used but then i thought the less plastic i had touching the lights, the better considering how hot the light housing must get. im still a little concerned what would happen if i left these lights on for a long drive.

the wiring was so much easier than the Proburners i had before. but i cant seem to get the relay to do what its supposed to do, that is if its supposed to make it where the lights wont work without the keys in. not that big of a deal though. the rocker switch is a lot smaller than the one used for Proburners and does not light up. im also trying out the green "halo effect" lights just for kicks. theyre really dont seem bright enough to notice.

anyone know how these lights would work if using the OEM switch? id imagine that you'd only have the option of turning either the lights/halo lights on or off, depending on the way its wired. if possible id like to use the OEM switch and just ditch the halo effect lights.

Snugged is the word!
I purchased the E in June, installed Cyberwhites two weeks later. Then my wife takes the E on a business trip from Minneapolis to Chicago. I was concerned about mounting it on plastic too, since it was July. When she got back, I checked the plastic and it was OK.

Monster,

How did you mount the rocker sw?
I took the plastic filler and milled out the dimension of the sw, it worked
pretty well.

I didn't I used an oem switch 12.95 and mounted the wiring to the fuse box. See my links.
Tested the plastic on 100watt bulbs with derect contact. The plastice was fine. It was made to deflect heat being a heating duct vent.

The cyber White Halos could be mount with the oem switch. Roker is fine and using the enclosed plug is a great idea.

Personally If i were to use the cyber white halos with the oem switch I would wire the halo to my parking lights bypassing the switch. This would cause the halos to come on with the parkin lights but the fog beam would only be triggered with the oem switch.

I used the oem harness to plug the fogs in so I wouldn't have to drill on the fire wall.

C'mon, spend a few extra pennies and get the DL240 HID driving lights from Lightforce. Puts out 1.5 million candlepower and for a measly $1349.59 for the pair. I figure if you mount enuff on the front end and on the roof you won't really need to avoid dark objects in your path because you'll just burn threw them. Your Element could be a mobile microwave.

Great... The imperials have a mobile death star disguised as an E!!! I'm glad we already have schematics for the element... should make a Rebel attack much easier than the battle of Endor!

OK let me give you the absolute best light kit I have ever installed. They are American Products Company Series 7 driving lights. Got them from advance auto for $60. They fit the hole completely and the bracket on the light will hold the lights just by putting a screw and washer on the outside of the E's plastic light form. You can aim the lights by pivoting the lights up and down on the axis of the bracket.

Sounds confusing but it really is simple. I'll post pictures tomorrow. These lights have a choice of 7 halo colors that are independently activated or can be left off. I like mine with the blue ring on since it matches my E. With the driving light on its impossible to see the halo even if you have it on. So its halo or driving lights, not both.

I drilled out the plug where the OEM light switch would go to create an opening for my light switch. Wiring is a piece of cake but it does take a little time to get it right.

The best part about these lights is the way they absolutely fill out the opening and the awesome amount of light they produce. I took back the Walmart pro burner lights because they left me with an opening all around the light. I live in the northeast. An opening like that is just waiting to get filled with snow and ice.

If you read most of the posts about pro burners, no one says anything about this gap. In my opinion they got to look like they belong there. Seeing 1/4" of air all around made me run right back to the store and shell out the extra $40 for something that FITS THE E RIGHT.

Also added a hi tone highway blaster to my OEM horn. Not as involved as what some people have done but it does the trick in combination. Gets me noticed for half the cost of buying 2 horns.

Did you need anything extra to mount the lights; ie a dryer vent etc. Any luck with the pictures?

Its been raining here cat & dogs. I'll post pictures as soon as it dries out a bit. Having never seen the gap on the OEMs I can't speak to that. I am just a little anal about having a custom look to my installs. I design for a living. Can't help myself. No offense to anyone else. Once I get a chance to post the pixs I think you'll see what I mean about a tight fit. We are supposed to be getting some dry weather towards the end of the week. Look for pixs over the weekend.
