When installing the 625is, did other people find that it could not reach within about 1/8-1/4" of being flush with the speakwell, as the speaker back was up against the 270 degree "shroud" at the back of the speakerwell? If so, what method did you use to open it up? Cutout of part of the inner portion (donut-holing it) or removal of the shroud altogether?

Or are my 625is a deeper manufacturing run that others? For example, I noticed that element-j's 625is are not using an external crossover, but mine came with an external crossover for each speaker...

Aha. I know the problem. This run of 625is has *two* pairs of speaker terminals on each speaker, one for the high, one for the mid. The crossover has four wires coming out. I assume the older 625is had only one pair, which could be rotated into the pre-existing bottom cutout of the shroud/well in the door. Not so with the newer 625is, since the terminal pairs are mounted on opposite sides (bottom *and* top).

A cutting I will go...

PS - though, perhaps I have the older ones, and the newer ones integrate the crossover? in any case, i have to cut.
