: black wheels on black E... Help!
e4u2c 12-29-2008, 12:27 AM Tell me what you think...
I don't like the current wheels that I have so I did some photo editing and this is what I came up with. I want the all black look with a polished lip. They are 18". The color isnt exact, but it's close
My girlfriend doesn't like them... what do you think?
abulevan 12-29-2008, 12:32 AM something like this?

they r r1 racing rims. they r black with a machined lip.
e4u2c 12-29-2008, 12:42 AM very similar... these are Akita AK-6. Thinking about spraying NBP on them.
vfxraven19 12-29-2008, 12:50 AM ASA AR1's w/ machined lip painted NBP would look great. The AR2's also look similar...
I have the Sport Edition branded CD's that have similar pattern too, these are on my NBP.
e4u2c 12-29-2008, 12:53 AM Do you have a pic?

Get a new girlfriend :-P
SK8nLMNT 12-29-2008, 03:29 AM e4u2c...do you have a pic of the front end of ur car? im contemplating spray painting the inside of my headlights black too.
Get a new girlfriend :-P
ruthless...
Nice rims, I'd love to have any of those;
But, until the economic situation (Actor's Strike) is resolved I will have to live with my "Modified Wheels". (Rustoleum Satin Black) It was cheap, it was easy and I don't look like every other Element.
e4u2c 12-29-2008, 02:43 PM I have a better pic on my home pc of the headlights painted NBP. I love the headlights but hate my wheels!
Pope*Mobile 12-29-2008, 03:06 PM Get a new girlfriend :-P
Great minds . . .
Seriously, I like the black on black look; good luck with your decision . . . (the wheels, not the girlfriend)!
e4u2c 12-30-2008, 12:54 AM I was origionally going to go with the "BBS" style but the ones I was going to get had a more square-ish lip. The ones I picked have a full radius on them.
I have a deposit at the local tire shop on the black AK-6 (back on page one of this thread) size 18x7.5 40mm offset. The wheels will be installed within this week pending the sale of my current wheels.
SK8nLMNT: Here are better pics of the NBP headlights. When the sun shines and the E is clean, they match the pearl compared to the '07 gloss black.
LOL about the girlfriend comment. She likes a different style that would show my puny calipers (but still black). Hmmm....Big brake upgrade....
SK8nLMNT 12-30-2008, 02:07 AM thanks for the PIX!!
i am on the edge about doin this. I like the clear jdm look...hmm...wut paint did u use?
bassplayer5504 12-30-2008, 01:28 PM I like the current wheels on your E, but I agree that the ASA style wheels will look much better!
I'm trying to sell my wheels to buy a set of the ASA AR1 wheels in silver! Hopefully I will have the new wheels this spring.
Post some pics when you get your new wheels on.
spoonido 12-30-2008, 03:57 PM I will have to live with my "Modified Wheels". (Rustoleum Satin Black)
Whoa! Rustoleum?!? Is that, like, legal? If so, then ANY Rustoleum color could be used! Think of the possibilities! Total chaos ensues and western civilization collapses! Do they have KIWI?
e4u2c 12-30-2008, 05:00 PM I found the 5 oz. can of duplicolor and used that for the lights.
SK8nLMNT 12-30-2008, 11:22 PM are ur headlights semi tinted?
e4u2c 12-31-2008, 02:49 AM No tint on the headlights but the bezels are NBP instead of chrome so they look darker.
e4u2c 12-31-2008, 11:27 PM It's raining and my car is dirty. Better pics tomorrow. I just couldnt wait. Akita AK-6 18x7.5 40mm offset 235/50R18 BFG KDWS
TheAntirice 01-01-2009, 03:40 AM i already like it better
e4u2c 01-01-2009, 11:32 AM A little bit better pics. I love this look
bassplayer5504 01-01-2009, 12:00 PM Nice! I like the look even with the bad pics. Can't wait to see them with better light. Besides...........isn't it always raining in Washington?:D
e4u2c 01-01-2009, 12:11 PM LOL... we get sun sometimes. Might look at tinting the taillights
vfxraven19 01-01-2009, 12:39 PM Looks real good, e4u2c! Thanks for posting pics! :D
BigAl205 01-01-2009, 01:35 PM Sweet! A tiny bit of contrast makes it look 'formal'. I would add some slightly larger tires maybe with raised white letters...but that's just my taste.
bassplayer5504 01-01-2009, 03:11 PM LOL... we get sun sometimes. Might look at tinting the taillights
I think the contrast that you get from the taillights looks good. In my opinion I wouldn't get larger tires. Are you running 235 50 18? I would just lower it more to kill the gap.
e4u2c 01-01-2009, 07:40 PM I was using the sprint springs with a 2" drop and hated them. They bounced really bad. So I installed Eibachs which raised it up a little but the ride is way better.
I currently run 235/50 and will go to the 245/50 Kuhmo next time I need tires which will add a little more height but not much. Origionally when I bought the other wheels, I had 245/55 18 BFG's on it. I would love to lower it more but I wont, I dont want to loose any more ride quality. Someday I will go to coil-overs.
I think I will stick with the stock taillights. They do add contrast and I like it.
