: Installation Emergency (Injen CAI)

I just installed the CAI and now when I gas the car in park it seems I can't rev past 4,000 rpm. Is this normal? Is this a iVTEC thing? I can't remember ever reving the car in park and pushing it past 4K before installing the CAI. Or am I just being paranoid?

Did you check your oil? On the K20A3 if the oil is low the computer limits the revs.

Problem solved. It wasn't the oil, Honda limits the revs at cold start. Once I took it for a spin around the block it was fine. Woohoo!

Chums: How you like it? I love mine. (I put the Injen decals on the E's rear corners too!)

Hondas are so cool. The rev limiter will engage at 4k RPM when you're not moving and 6k RPM when you are moving. What a concept!

Amy, I just put it on this afternoon and it sounds awesome. Quiet at idle but when you gas it, you're neighborhood will know you gassed it.

I took a trip to Vegas from LA last weekend and I was really dissapointed with the Element's gas consumption. I had wonderful experiences with CAIs in Hondas in the past so I expect the same fantastic increases in horsepower and gas consumption in my E.

I also have a family member that swears up and down on the Tornado. She claims that the Tornado has saved her at the pump and that the Tornado will pay for itself in a matter of 6 months. I may try it with my CAI. After that Vegas trip, I'm willing to try anything to squeeze more MPGs. www.tornadoair.com

Kyankin, yes, that limiter scared the crap out of me. I thought the installation of the CAI screwed up my car's computer.

I didn't buy the injen cold air intake but my friend and I installed a short air intake instead. It's an intake for a honda civic with some minor modifations. Throttle response is definitely improved.

Monitoring the gas mileage now. It does sound louder on acceleration but quiet on idle and cruising speeds. Gas it up and you'll notice the difference in response and sound. I will post pics soon.

The cost is a small fraction compared to the Injen.

DITTO???....gas consumption?....I took a trip to the Cape this past Summer, 4 adults and 4 decent size suitcases and averaged around 23 mpg...I know is low but it would have been better if I kept it under 80mph....my best so far is 26.8 mpg or call it 27...but it was driven very gently at speed limits and no AC....no extra weight meaning one driver....my wifey to and from work for a week...anyway back to the subject, I'm happy and so is my wife with the Injen CAI...and no I didn't put the stickers on....we are going STEATH.... as a matter of fact I gave my kid license frame....for his 93 Corolla....

Actually, I was being a bit snarky about the construction of that sentence...I think we'd all prefer fantasic increases in *efficiency* not consumption! :)

Oh, I'm sorry, you guys know what I meant.

OK, just finished the weekend with my recently installed CAI and boy did I burn up a lot of gas. I think I almost went through an entire tank in less than 48 hrs. It's my fault though, I basically ran my E to redline at every shift, at every chance I could get. So much for that efficiency thing. Oh well, perhaps I'll lay of the pedal once I tire of hearing my E rip its way to redline.
