Hello everyone..I live in Tampa Bay and own a 2004 Honda Element (currently at 59k miles). I drive alot and noticed something must have hit my windshield so I got an "internal" crack..I can't feel it from the outside or inside of my car but I can definitely see it. I've never had this happen before and don't even know where to begin..I guess my questions are..would my insurance company help me with this and secondly, where should I go to fix it and about how much would it cost? HELP:shock:

Yes your insurance company can help but it depends on your deductible. It may cause your rates to go up and it. If you don't have the rider to cover windshield damage directly it's usually cheaper to just pay for it yourself.
If it's not a major blockage of your view driving and less than the size of a dollar bill they may be able to repair it.
I checked real quick on safelite.com and to repair is $79.95 + tax, replace is $187 + tax. (Just to give you an idea).

Welcome!!!
You may want to check out problems and issues. There is a sticky just for windshield issues.
Just a word of caution. If you need to replace the windshield make sure that they seal it properly. There had been some discussion in the past that they did not seal properly which lead to leaks when rain, etc. Don't remember if outside vendor or Honda.
Hopefully you have the windshield coverage on your insurance.
Welcome and enjoy your E

Check with your insurance-I've been told by several folks that FLorida has a law that mandates windshield replacement, and that it's covered by all policies sold here. I wondered why I never saw a busted windshield here, which was why I asked.

Welcome!
I live in Land O Lakes and have replaced a few windshields on my cars, only one on the Element. They were fully covered by insurance with no deductible. They also cannot raise your rate as result of windshield only replacement. Heck, I even got a 'free box of steaks' once from a promotion the company was doing (Lloyd's Auto Glass). Best bet is to call your insurance first and inquire.

Welcome to the forum! and florida law states that your insurance has to replace your front windshield at no cost to you by law. I have USAA for insurance and I called them up and they sent someone the next day to fix it.

We live in Tampa (just to clarify, only fish live in Tampa Bay; it's a body of water), and the other Floridians are correct; your rates cannot be raised for a windshield replacement, and there's no deductible.
This is partly due to Florida's rather strict windshield condition laws, as it's illegal to drive around with damage. I don't think I've ever met anyone who was ticketed for it, but it's still illegal.
It seriously affects safety. Not to mention visibility. Get it fixed.
I know this because my mother gave birth to my oldest brother, 2 months prematurely, in the middle of the street that she was thrown through a windshield, onto, after a drunk driver hit my parents head on.
