Anyone experience this? Had my E for 5 days. This morning, on the way to work, the light indicating the rear hatch was open came on as well as the rear ceiling light. It stayed on for 10-15 min then went off on its own. I checked the rear hatch and it appeared to be properly shut. Has not happened again. Weird.......

It was probably not latched fully, then when you checked it, you gave it the bump it needed. Sometimes, with the tight seals they put on new cars these days, a pressure difference can build up when shutting a door, that causes the door to not close fully. My father in-law has a Toyota Tundra, and you swear your ears will bust if someone slams the door hard enough. Anyway, this may have been the case. There was also some talk back in May about the fit of the rear hatch. If the door is mounted ****-eyed it will never close properly. Keep an eye on it. If it starts happening a lot, give your dealer a call.

The contact switch for the rear gate/cargo area light may also be out of alignment, or not completely secured. I don't know the exact location, but it's a small plunger switch in the "door" jam assembly for the rear liftgate.

It is usually caused by not completely closing the hatch. I had this happen to me today. Just make sure to slam it shut.
