: The Big 2004 WEST COAST E Meet! *UPDATED 5/18/04*
Sheniferous 11-26-2003, 11:56 PM So quite a few members here in the golden state are interested in a statewide meet. I've talked with a few no. cal and so. cal owners and it looks like a state-wide meet at Pismo Beach (about 200 miles north of LA, 300 miles south of SF) sometime in March would be a great idea. The weather would be nice enough to hopefully enjoy the beach, and the Oceano Dunes State Park allows camping directly on the beach.
Let's start planning it now, so who is interested? It'd be nice to get a caravan of E's cruising the beach. I saw a caravan of about 20 classic cars on PCH the other day and it was cool as hell.
***UPDATE***
The 2004 West Coast Element Meet will be held the weekend of May 21st - 23rd at the Oceano Dunes SVRA
http://www.ohv.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=1207
Please submit your response on the poll above so I can get a rough count of how many campground spaces I should reserve!
***UPDATE 5/18***
I am away in China and won't be able to attend! Hopefully someone else has stepped in and helped with arranging this. Since the dates are already set. Please go to the website above to find the address and meet at the entrance to the park at on GRAND AVE.. Take the 101 and exit Grand, heading West and take it all the way down to the entrance of the beach. Someone who is attending, PLEASE set up a time for the meet at this location. And specify meeting time and dates for Saturday as a few members have mentioned coming on Saturday.
In addition, quite a few members have expressed interest in meeting up for a CARAVAN so please, if you are in No. Cal/So. Cal, wherever... arrange a meeting point prior to the meet for a caravan!
Please spread the word to any members that the meet is STILL ON!
lae10851 11-27-2003, 09:58 AM Could we have a North and South Caravan that meet at Pismo? What about reservations and such for the camping? Are there any hotels close by? What about restaurants? Oh yeah, and are pets ok?
Amy
Hawaiian E 12-01-2003, 02:29 PM instead of a nor cal/so cal meet, wouldn't it be just a cal meet?
:D
isdkelly 12-01-2003, 03:25 PM I am into the idea!
Id love a caravan from So Cal up to Pizmo Beach.
I lived in Arroyo Grande for three years and maybe Lopez Lake area would be a good location as well for a 4wd trip or just a country drive.
Please keep me posted!
HondaElephant 01-07-2004, 01:54 AM I'm down for this. I'm willing to jump on a caravan from N. Cal like from Sacramento and/or the Bay.
I too feel that it should be called a Cali meet instead of like a N. Cal vs. S. Cal meet. I've been part of those north vs. south meets with other model cars and they somewhat get out of hand with the whole state territory pride mentality.
Somewhere in the middle would be a perfect meeting place like San Luis Obispo or Pismo Beach. It could be like a daytime event and then drivers can make their own arrangements if they want to stay and sleep in their Element, rent a hotel, or simply drive back home.
Let's do dis meng!
denru 01-18-2004, 06:10 PM Count me in too! keep me informed. Thanks.
Infohead 01-18-2004, 10:41 PM I am interested in this as well. Please post all details, proposed meet locations, time, and date.
Thanks.
ChumsGum 01-23-2004, 12:26 AM I'm in.
BTW, I'm in the San Fernando Valley, just north of LA, and I'd love to caravan up to Pismo from down here.
Sheniferous 01-23-2004, 02:33 AM okay, don't have any details worked out yet... I'm in China right now on business and I won't be back til the 1st week of March.
I'm thinking we should have the meet either the week of Spring Break or right after.
I'll get more info soon.
bugnbox 01-24-2004, 01:47 AM Im there!
Ill help arrange a caravan from So Cal if we have a bunch of folks hip to the drive!
El Mental 01-25-2004, 10:48 PM One of the advantages of living most places in Cali is that we don't get road salt on our vehicles. Driving on the beack is a recipe fopr rust, IMO. Nice place to visit though/

hayless 02-20-2004, 12:53 AM I'm in!
gticl 02-20-2004, 01:33 PM i'm in....but please set the date. thanks
triplehhh 02-20-2004, 06:44 PM I'm in as long is it is not March 12-14. Go to go see those Kings play in Porland. Otherwise, Pismo sound great. There are many places for Hotels in Pismo, Santa Maria, and San Luis. Great time of year to hit that area too.
tonebender 02-27-2004, 07:35 PM I'd like to see this myself. New owner here from Lancaster. How about you musicians bringing guitars and such for a little beach jam session? I'll bring my stuff.
SeattleE 02-27-2004, 11:34 PM Any chance you'd let a northerner join in?? Could probably get a few of us from Seattle and Oregon to join in...different perspective and all that...
Jesse
Sheniferous 03-02-2004, 04:36 PM Okay guys, I guess it's time to settle on a date so I can start booking campground space and whatnot.
I was talking with some other members and it seems like the best time would be the weekend before the Memorial Day weekend... sooo....
The 2004 California Element Meet will be held on May 21st - 23rd, 2004 at the Oceano Dunes SVRA
http://www.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=406
Please leave a comment in the "Pismo Beach or Bust" thread on whether you are attending, and if you are gonna camp out on the beach in your E or look for nearby lodging (I'll post lodging information soon). I should be able to get a rough idea of how many members we're going to have attending by the end of the week so I can book campground space.[/b]
ChumsGum 03-02-2004, 10:43 PM Is that beach 2WD friendly? I'd hate for my E to get stuck in the sand.
ChumsGum 03-02-2004, 10:47 PM Is that beach 2WD friendly? I'd hate for my E to get stuck in the sand.
TopDog 03-03-2004, 12:56 AM Maybe some of our friendly 4WD owners can pull us stuck 2WD out of the beach sand.
lae10851 03-03-2004, 03:06 PM I'll bring a 4wd!

Can't go~
ChumsGum 03-05-2004, 09:44 AM How do these things work, do people wear name tags or what? Is this going to be a 1 night, 2 day event? Anyone have a schedule, like 12pm meet and greet, 6pm dinner, or whatever?

Well, as soon as i get some numbers down then I'll start trying to work out a schedule... but please, everyone put in suggestions as i've never organized anything like this!!!
lae10851 03-05-2004, 10:55 AM I think it would be cool to have a dinner or lunch or both, a drive, a show and shine, and plenty of time for mindless jabbering.
Well maybe not so mindless.

GeepM 03-24-2004, 09:38 PM I've been planning to attend for a long time, just never posted. I'll be there. Don't worry about getting stuck I will have recover equipment with me... So should we call Honda America, and see if they want to sponsor, film, attend the event?
Joe Bohannon
GeepM 03-25-2004, 11:07 PM I am going to go ahead and produce some flyers to help promote this event. I f there is any need to help in the orginization, I also offer my assistance there. I Guess we could say the orginizers would be E-Shen, Amy and my self... I know I just self appointed myself, and if you guys don't want me to help thats fine, and I will remove myself from that list.
The only reason I am offering such is because I will be using my own contact information on the flyers... If you'd like some flyers, please contact me, and I will try to get you some... Also my I have permission to reproduce the EOC logo?
SeattleE 03-26-2004, 12:01 AM Hey all -
Can I hook up with the N. Cal folks and caravan with y'all from there? I'll have a long lonely drive from here to there, but the coast's gorgeous!
Anyway, have any plans been made as far as a meeting time, place, etc...
peace - and thanks!

sharxfan2 03-26-2004, 10:17 PM Hi. We are planning to go but probably not stay on the beach. We will gladly caravan with anyone willing. We are in Ceres.
Thanks
pharaohxiii 03-27-2004, 12:03 AM Hey Sharxfan2! I'm with you about not camping out on the beach. Have you looked into hotel accommodations yet? The caravan hasn't been organized yet, to my knowledge. I believe there's folks as far away as Washington and Oregon looking to hook up with the NoCal caravan.
apposite 03-27-2004, 02:50 AM I am alive and out from the shadows once more - had major work issues and web hosting problems for the http://norcalelements.com website.

I think contacting Honda would be a great idea. What do we got to lose right? Perhaps they can they can give us all vouchers for a free windshield replacement? :D
SeattleE 03-29-2004, 02:53 PM I may be heading through Saturday rather than Friday...Maybe I should head for your area Friday night, then hook up with you for the final drive down...

hayless 03-29-2004, 03:48 PM We (my wife and I) are in! We'll be coming up from Los Angeles. Let me know if I can help out in any way. Thanks.
Sheniferous 03-29-2004, 05:47 PM i guess with the preliminary polls, it's look like there's going to be about 30 elements. i'll start making campground reservations and posting hotel info.
anyone wanna plan the activities that we'll be doing that weekend?
(PS. I probably won't be able to make it because I'll still in in China on business - I leave on april 5th, but I'll still keep trying to organize this shindig as much as i can... hopefully i can be back in time!)
lae10851 03-29-2004, 07:41 PM Shen,
If your not going to be there, then you better let people fend for themselves on camp grounds! I'd hate to have a reservation we cant use!
(I'm stuck in the hotel anyway)
SeattleE 03-29-2004, 08:56 PM Just put the reservation in someone elses name...or get all the info, then make someone else actually make the reservation.
I'm a camper, but I'm probably coming down Saturday morning rather than Friday night...just to much going on up here to leave that early

pharaohxiii 03-30-2004, 06:50 PM Hey Folks! I've been in contact with a couple of hotels...ROSE GARDEN INN in Pismo Beach and BEST WESTERN CASA GRANDE INN in Arroyo Grande (4 miles from Pismo Beach). The key person for each hotel won't be available until later this week. I should be able to let you know on Friday what "Group Rate" they are willing to extend to us. I did stumble across a very nice hotel right "on the sand" of the beach. It's called the SANDCASTLE INN. It's the next best thing to actually camping out on the beach, right? Just a thought. Let me know if I should contact them as well.
pharaohxiii 04-01-2004, 06:39 PM OK Folks...the ROSE GARDEN INN in Pismo Beach didn't seem too eager to see another car club coming to town. They won't hold any rooms for us. The "special rate" is $69.00 (1 Queen) and $79.00 (2 Double). Regular rate is $119.00. NO PETS ALLOWED! I wasn't too impressed with them.
Now, on the other hand...BEST WESTERN CASA GRANDE INN in Arroyo Grande (4 miles from Pismo Beach) is very excited we're coming to town! They said they host several car clubs, from Hot Rods to luxury sport cars. They are currently holding (15) rooms for us @ $89.00 a night (Friday/Saturday or Saturday Only). Regular rate is $129.00 a night. The (15) rooms have (2) Queen Beds. They are also holding (4) Pet rooms which are an additional $10.00 a night. RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY APRIL 30th or the rooms will be released! There is a 48 Hour Cancellation Policy from the date of arrival. To get the "special rate" when calling to make your reservations...mention that you're with the "HONDA GROUP". Our Group I.D. in their computer is "HONDA". They also mentioned that they have a very SECURE PARKING LOT and a heated pool area for socializing. They also have a SPA, SAUNA and a FITNESS ROOM! The price of the room also includes a Deluxe Continental Breakfast!
Their number is (805) 481-7398. Additional information or requests ask for "Raquel" (M-F 9am-3:30pm PST). Her email address is casagrande@pismobeachca.net .
Should we happen to need more rooms, they said they would accommodate us.
Let me know what you think?
ande713 04-02-2004, 07:17 PM im planning on going..as long as its ok to bring the family to see the very nice e's
i was just curious if anyone is going to stay at the sandcastle inn?
can't wait :D
hey e-shen, you ready to go to pismo again? this time you lead because you know where not to go after getting stuck last time. wait until you se my stuck in the rocks pictures i have. see you there
ThePyawkt 04-11-2004, 06:32 PM Hi Everyone,
What a cool group and cool idea for camping & traveling together! Please put me down as a "definite maybe" for the May trip... it depends if I can get the weekend off or not. If I can, I am THERE!
I Just baught my '04 Element AWD EX on Tuesday, 4/6! I knew it was for me the moment I set foot in it. I gave up a '96 V8 Bronco 4X4 for it, and don't regrette it yet. I went off-roading in it yesterday, and it took the trails almost better than the Bronco - I am so impressed! I baught the storage compartment armrest today and installed it myself in about 20 minutes - it's SOOO COOOL!
Anyway, I will try to post soon with an definite answer as to whether I can join you folks - I think I can, but I need a day or two to get the symantics in concrete.... Please, anyone feel free to message me or drop me a note. I'm in the Davis, CA area.... Peace!
~Rob[/b]
lae10851 04-12-2004, 05:41 PM I just got a conditional offer of employment that I have been waiting way tooo long for. Due to this change, I probably will not be going to Pismo. :(

Sheniferous 04-13-2004, 03:17 AM dude i'm in china right now, workin hard at running this restaurant so i hardly ever have time to come online anymore... but it looks like pharoah is the man with the plan so i wish to delegate my planning duties to him or any other willing EOC member!
My flight gets back to LA on May 20th so I'm still gonna go!
SeattleE 04-24-2004, 09:21 PM Sorry to say that I'm not going to be able to make it either...got an offer to assist in the move of an entire office full of computers. To much potential income to pass up

04-EX-1 04-29-2004, 12:12 AM This could be fun.
Are there any details confirmed yet?
We're in NW Los Angeles.
Does the campground allow pooches?
Has anyone tried sleeping in the back of their Element yet?
I haven't even tried taking the seats out.
Bought an 04 EX, auto, in Shoreline Mist.

P.S. Finally went to your web site. Very good!!
Staggie 05-02-2004, 08:03 PM Hey, this looks promising for me. I've driven from SD to SF on Highway 1 and zoomed by Pismo beach on the way. Anybody know if there's a Pismo Bally's club? I'd could sleep in my E then get cleaned up there, which would be cool.
If a caravan gets together from SF, definitely game to head down to Pismo together.
pharaohxiii 05-03-2004, 06:56 PM :( Hey Folks...I just touched base with "Raquel" at the Best Western Casa Grande Inn in Arroyo Grande. The deadline for reservations was April 30th. Unfortunately, only (2) reservations were made for our "Honda Element Meet"...myself and one other. Raquel has already started releasing the rest of the rooms that were being held for us. Just thought I'd let you know.
ande713 05-03-2004, 07:01 PM i tink that i may have been the other person, but im not sure because i used the aaa discouont but i mentioned the meet up, im just curious how many people are actually going because i want to see lots of boxys!! well are there gonna be any caravans down there from the bay?!(more specifically around the peninsula)
ChumsGum 05-03-2004, 11:17 PM I don't think I'll be able to make it. The week before the meet, here in LA, is the Electronics Entertainment Expo and I'll be in the office on Saturday catching up on work. Maybe I'll make the drive Saturday night and see you all Sunday.
bbq_dan 05-06-2004, 09:21 AM Folks, I would really love to attend this and meet all of you but my schedule won't permit it. I work Tues-Sat and it's about an 8 hour round trip from the IE to Pismo. Hopefully next time I'll be able to swing some vacation days and get together with y'all.
You're really going to be p'd off when I tell you that I just sold my BBQ trailer that was big enough to feed EVERYONE. Something like this...

cottonrose 05-06-2004, 11:51 AM Well here is a thought ...I have found myself wandering from dealership to dealership (in 3 counties) over the last couple of months now (not wanting to get a reputation of indecision) and I STILL can't decide what color, AT vs 5sp, AWD vs 2wd, SO... may I use this event for making my decision !!?? My last new car was in 1979 and was burgundy and my current Mazda MPV is burgundy so I am lost beyond hope in choosing a color !! My Mazda is an AT but my Ford Ranger is a 5 speed manual ... and what about AWD what is it and do I need it !!?? So, perhaps this is exactly the kick I need (and maybe there are a few others out there also?) who could enjoy and learn ! One of the many Element owners I have run into and asked questions to, said to me "Do you have problems making decisions?) !!!!!!!!! Well, hell yes when they are 20K decisions !!! So what do ya all think about an "almost" Element owner joining in? I'd be coming from Sonoma county and could leave friday night @ 7pmish. Wow, this could be great !!
salutlemonde 05-07-2004, 10:51 PM We're planning on camping on the beach - with more padding between ourselves and the E than the last camping trip. Anyone done a count of campers?

salutlemonde 05-18-2004, 11:13 PM Is anyone caravaning from the Sacramento area? If you are, what day/time were you planning to head to Pismo?
Our route would be 5 south to highway 41, west to Paso Robles, then south on highway 101 to the turnoff.
Maybe we can meet somewhere south of Sacramento off highway 5 so we can pick up people from Elk Grove, the 50 and 80 corridors.
joeBoxer 05-19-2004, 12:44 AM is it just me, or does it seem that this meet is wilting on the vine? no schedule, no events, no times to meet and no one responding to posts about driving there together in a caravan.
disappointing. :?

salutlemonde 05-20-2004, 01:07 PM Well. considering that the meet doesn't start until tomorrow, Friday May 21st, it's a bit early to say if it happened.
Those of us who go will surely post comments and photos of the event (or the dunes, or Pirates' Cove, or whatever) so you'll know if it did indeed happen.
BEATBOX 05-20-2004, 03:38 PM Ooops, sorry. I meant to post this in the East Coast section.

Nanook 05-22-2004, 01:32 PM Eh, what the heck. I'm gonna fly up there and see if anyone showed up. Beautiful drive, in any case.
joeBoxer 05-23-2004, 03:20 AM give us a report nanook!
Nanook 05-23-2004, 05:45 PM As Col. Kurtz: "The sand... The sand..."
Beautiful drive up. Love the 101.
As I pulled up to the ticket booth, the lady asked me, "Are you with the caravan?" Filled with relief as I wouldn't be the only one there, I started to pull away when she asked me, "Is that thing 4WD? You know you'll be driving on the beach." D'oh! Never having driven a vehicle on the sand, it's not allowed on any CA beach but this one, apparently, I parked and looked down at the access road and sure enough, straight down to the sand. All I could see around me were big 4X4's with knobby tires. I noticed a few people letting air out of their tires, so I inquired to what PSI they were taking the tires down to. One reply was 8 PSI. the other was, "as far down as I can take it so it'll stay on the bead." I took 'em down to 15 PSI, which I read, after the fact, is what the State Park Dept. recommends. ;) You could reinflate the tires at local gas stations, but they were a mile away on surface streets. 15 PSI sounded like a good compromise.
Anyway, I took a deep breath and started the descent. The E. handled the sand like a champ! Most of the driving was done along the water's edge anyway, where it is much firmer. It was gratifying to see other, bigger vehicles spinning their wheels while I drove by. The rangers had their hands full towing people out.

In fact, it was a friggin' busy city street down there! Complete with traffic jams and passing. One twist: it was like stepping into the Road Warrior. Weaving and buzzing around the slow-moving line of cars were all sorts of ATV's, dune buggies and dirt bikes. Most driven by kids, some as young as 4! The park rangers were scrambling all over the place to admonish reckless drivers. It was a madhouse. It seemed that every 5 minutes a ranger zoomed by with sirens blaring to either arrest (?) a drunk driver or administer first aid.
I made my way South, constantly looking to the left in search of other E.'s. The first one I found contained a family of five. I guess the youngest was on someone's lap? The guy I talked to was unaware of the meet, although he had heard about the EOC from his dealer :).
Drove all the way down the beach, at least a couple miles, with no other E.'s in sight, until the sand transitioned from firm, wet sand to loose, damp sand. Ruts at least 10" deep. The E. had some fun with that. Turn the steering wheel and 3 seconds later you *might* go in that direction. I managed to make a u-turn and headed back North, relieving my neck strain by looking to the right this time. Lo and behold:

This nice gentleman with his son and a friend had been camping here since Friday night. His name was Dave and he read about the meet here but hasn't posted yet. Hi Dave! He was pulling a trailer, barely seen in the photo, with two dirt bikes, and had two kyaks on the roof. He didn't even deflate his tires and did fine! Oh well, better safe than sorry...
We chatted E.'s for a while, being sandblasted by the wind. Oh, I didn't mention the wind and sand? It was quite intense. Before closing my windows, I took on a good bit of it. The windows make this nice scratchy sound now when rolling them up or down. This is why you don't see any pictures taken outside of my car: I didn't want what happened to my windows happen to my camera, as well. ;)
He lives in Fresno, and was much more familliar than the central coast of CA than I, so he gave me some great ideas for a future road trip. He also mentioned that at least 5 other E.'s had come by asking about the meet since Friday, but no one stayed too long. I don't blame them with the wind and all. After chatting some more in the shelter of my not packed-to-the-gills E., another one pulled up!
[Edit] Grr...
Nanook 05-23-2004, 06:01 PM Oy, hit the character limit in the last post. Have to paraphrase what was lost.
Another E. pulled up containing JiveTribe and friend. Hey JiveTribe!
http://www.lafn.org/~bf115/CAMeet/CAMeet4.jpg
We hung for a bit, then they took refuge in a friend's trailer and I called it a day.
Took advantage of a local DIY spray & wash. Hope I got all the sand and salt off the outside, especially underneath. Filled the tires and headed home.
All in all, it was fun to take a road trip, see what the E. was capable of and meet other E. owners. I could have done without the sand storms depositing sand in every nook and cranny possible, and the sheer numbers of kamikaze off road vehicles. Maybe next time we'll hit a forrest or the mountains?
Got home in time to see Super Size Me, a great documentary about a man who eats nothing but McDonald's for thirty days, three meals a day, and his ensuing health problems. Then I went and got a Big Mac.
brendan 05-23-2004, 07:57 PM Did the sandblasting turn all of the E's into SSMs???
:)
And yeah, when posting a loooong message, I've learned, the hard way, to copy the text out to notepad or something similar, just in case I hit the char limit. Dumb dumb dumb that the phpbb code just throws out the text.

joeBoxer 05-23-2004, 11:27 PM thanks for the report and photos nanook - one made it on the homepage!
salutlemonde 05-24-2004, 12:24 AM Hello everyone-
We parked in the entry lot on Saturday morning, saw about 4 E's, talked to two of them. One waved, drove by, and disappeared!
Another was some friends from a previous EOC NorCal event on their way to L.A. We did a quick cruise down "Mad Max" beach, avoided killing anyone on ATV's as they zoomed around us, and met a couple of E's on the beach.
Since there was no "official" time or date, everyone seemed to just cruise through and leave - considering the wind, the crazed ATV drivers and the traffic (think of your daily commute + SUV's + ATV's + wind + sand + the tide's coming in!)
salutlemonde 05-24-2004, 12:26 AM This guy was a local, not here because of the EOC.
salutlemonde 05-24-2004, 12:49 AM Here are some images from around noon on Saturday http://www.cwo.com/~mheacox/Photos/pismoEs04.html
salutlemonde 05-24-2004, 12:52 AM I just realized that the photo didn't upload - it did work when I linked a URL - the local E is the one with someone fishing in front of it.
BTW - we saw a LOT of E's as we drove north on Highway 1 to Monterey.
salutlemonde 05-24-2004, 12:59 AM One of the elements we talked with had two wheel drive. They didn't deflate the tires, and didn't have any trouble getting on or off the beach - but they did avoid the deep, powdery stuff. When we were there, the tide was coming in and there was a lot of wet sand, though - that could have helped for traction. They said the back end drifted around a bit, and they did spin the front wheels a bit - sounded deliberate, but then how many times do you get to drive on a beach, anyway? With all the traffic, the sand was packed down pretty well on the access road and the main route along the beach.
Edison 05-24-2004, 02:45 AM Excellent pics, salutlemonde - the fishing one is priceless. I"ve often thought Honda would be well advised using owner's pics for advertising. Of course, it's obvious all Elements love the camera! :D

Nanook 05-24-2004, 04:27 AM Sorry I missed you guys! In my line of work, the surest way to book a job is to make plans, so it had to be a last minute decision. Maybe next time.
brendan, I reckon another couple hours and it would have been Primer Magnesium. ;) Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely remember that one. Or maybe I'll find a cure for my logorrhea...
Joe, wow, I hardly ever see the home page anymore. I couldn't be prouder! Thanks for pointing that out to me. Although I do think salutlemonde's pics are nicer...
GeepM 05-24-2004, 12:29 PM Here is a pic of us at Pismo.
Only saw a couple of people there. One was JiveTribe, hey JiveTribe!
We had fun cruising (Got stopped for speeding on the beach, 20MPH in 15MPH area :( ) the beach and shopping... Best clam chowder around too http://www.splashcafe.com

BEATBOX 05-24-2004, 12:36 PM Great pix GeepM!
Sheniferous 05-24-2004, 12:43 PM dude... i wish i could've been there! looks like it wasn't a big west coast meet after all eh?
salutlemonde 05-24-2004, 01:24 PM When I was there, nobody had arrived from Southern California (unless Fresno counts)! It was more like the Pismo Fizzle.
Next time, we need a place where we're not at risk of being run over by a crazed 12 year old going 65 MPH on an ATV, out of the wind, where we can all get together.
There was a suggestion for Angels Camp - any interest?

fo' shizzle, dizzle. ;)
[quote]There was a suggestion for Angels Camp - any interest?
yea I am! But I don't know when I'll be back for sure. It might be as soon as mid-june... or as late as mid-august!
T Mac 05-24-2004, 05:00 PM Whatever you guys decide, please keep me posted and I'll help spread word around here.
hownowcb 05-24-2004, 08:00 PM While I readily confess that the California coastline provides some fabulous photo opportunities, I feel kinda smug that the Gettysburg meet drew easily twice as many members! (And for me, the drive was half as far! LOL!) I know you left-coasters can do better than that! Counting the Elements I saw in and around town who weren't members (and proud to say I got one to play with us), there were easily 20 Elements in the Gettysburg environs the weekend of May 15. I do have to say though, all your photos from Pismo are breathtaking to this flatlander!
ande713 05-24-2004, 08:08 PM well i dont think there were that many e's there because shen wasnt here!! well next time we definitely need you!! and plus i dont think we actually had a "meet" we just met for about 5 minutes and then drove off though i saw lots of e's to me it seemed not many of them were here for the meet...i was the eternal blue element with the side steps..i tink maybe we should try again at this meet but with most of the people not cancelling!!!
ande713 05-24-2004, 08:11 PM salutlemonde, did you have a liscence plate of something like "jpnhumb"?? and with a dog?? well if not i saw the boxy in solvang too!! thought that would of been a good photo stop
salutlemonde 05-24-2004, 11:43 PM That was our friends from Monterey - also in the EOC. They were on their way to LA but stopped in at Pismo to check out the action. The photo of the SOP in the water is their "E" .
I agree that Solvang would have been a fun stop - there are also some good wineries near there. We could have done the Element Smorgasbord, too - whatever that could be - little orange aebelskivers or something, maybe...
We could also have gone to Paso Robles - more wineries, driven up highway 1, gone to Nipomo Dunes (a nature reserve near Pismo Beach, no ATV's), hung out in tiny Mexican restaurants in Guadeloupe... Hopefully we'll be organized next time![/i]
