: Ipod Hack Help with Aftermarket HU
OUZO Power 01-23-2009, 01:47 PM So my aftermarket HU has an Ipod connector in the back and Ipod option in the main menu.
PROBLEM: THe idiots don't sell or include the Ipod cable to connect to the back cable.
So what can I do? It's a 12 pin round connector.
here is the HU.

But the cable for the Ipod is not shown here.
It's like this one on this unit.

I just plugged ipod to 12 pin cable into google and got the j-link info then plugged that into amazon cos I figure they would ship to you with a minimum of fuss. If it's not the right cable sorry for the mislead.
Edit: Yeah, what FCZ sez. Like that rite?
OUZO Power 01-23-2009, 02:13 PM Wow. you guys are good. i guess anyone of those will work.

Wait a minute. Is this only good for charging?
Wait a minute. Is this only good for charging?
Charges and plays, at least mine does.
E_BikeR 01-23-2009, 03:03 PM Why can't the manufacturers make it all USB? This would be sooooo much easier than the specialized cables that are hard to find, and harder to replace.
If you think about it, the stock cable for an iPod that plugs into your computer can be controlled and charged just fine.... so why change the protocol?
If it were USB, we could even format and use flash media for playback. Some manufacturers are headed down that road.
xxmitaxx 01-23-2009, 03:45 PM I don't know if this will help, but i Have mine ( ipod ) connected through a similar wire that is originally used for a cd changer. All you need to do is purchase a round 12 whatever plug that converts to RCA on the other side, and then RCA to mini jack and plug it all together, and then use regular ipod charger cable to charge it and mini jack through RCA through CD charger option for sound. Sounds a bit complicated but works..... And no it will not work with just RCA cables you need to run it through a CD CHANGER option I don't know why, but that is how it is at least with Alpine

OUZO Power 01-23-2009, 09:00 PM on a side note I got home to see that it's a 14 pin. I'm SOL.

That is one of the "some manufacturers" that I was looking at in Las Vegas at the CES show. Can't seem to figure why this change has taken so long though. Eventually al the media will be solid state with no moving parts.
Al, Have you been happy with your Pioneer set-up?
