I finally managed to nab a leather Pilot steering wheel on ebay. When I tried to follow the simple instructions from emass I blew the very first one. The air bag Torx screws are firmly loctite'd in place and I stripped the head of one of the screws trying to remove it.

I would advise anyone wanting to try the steering wheel swap to try to remove the two screws before bidding on ebay.
