I live in TN and we do not have one of these stores. I was wondering if anyone had ordered tires from them online? They have free shipping so I would like to get them from there. Also can't decide between the yoko Geolander H/T-S $97 per tire or the BFG Long Trail T/A Touring $104 per tire. Any suggestions would be great! If anyone has pics of these tires on pleae post, I would like to see them on.

First check out the cost of mounting the tires you get mail order. Costs can vary from $13 a wheel to $40 to $50.

Then do some research and find the tie store the local BMW, PCA, SCCA etc car clubs use. And give them a call and see what their bottom line price is for tires. its only a good deal if the bottom line tires on your E cost is lower.

My local tire store who is one Yokohamas and Toyos top stores in the US always beats Tire Rip off I am sorry Tire Rack and Discount Tire. BTW they are a single store. and that also includes wheels.

I've ordered tires (and wheels) online for ten years from Tire Rack, Discount Tire Direct, Edge Racing and Mach II. I have no complaints about any of them.

When you order wheels and tires both they come looking like the tires were made on the wheels: no marks on the rims at all.:)

I have used Discount Tire Direct many times... In fact, were I to buy tires today, I'd use them. Rest your mind at ease, they are a good supplier. I then take my tires over to Discount Tire locally and get them mounted for the same price I'd pay anyway....

I am buying a set of tires from a fellow EOCer. I have never had a set of tires mounted seperate from buying them from the vendor. Does the range really run $13 to $50 per tire! What would you consider reasonable? $20-$25?

Shop around... $10 is "normal" for me...maybe $15 at some places.

If you need to save a few bucks offer to leave 'em and then pick up later....and offer to pay cash. I've paid $5 each a few times.

Tire Rack +1

I was driving home to Boston from Chicago a couple years ago and stopped in Tire Rack. They gave me a sweet deal on the tires and installed them within an hour. They even let me watch the warehouse "process". I would purchase from them again and do not consider them a rip off.

Weird, I had responded yesterday but the post is gone. Either way, they are usually very good. I'd give them a call and see what they say about the two different tires. They usually can offer you advise and if you call they can sometimes give you a better deal. Whenever I go into our local store they have better prices than the internet.

Yeah....had that happen to several of my posts too. I understand they are making some changes/improvements, so the posts prolly "slipped thru the cracks."

I have the BFG Long Trails on my Element, I'll see if I can't get out there in a little bit to take a picture.

I think I need to get out club clothes first though :D

I've ordered one replacement pair of winters for CRV; one full set winters for E; a set of summers for Accord; and will be ordering one full set of summers for E soon. Over the last 5 years from internet. Most times locals do not have what I'm looking for and when I ask about ordering it's not a problem, but their costs are higher than internet - tire to tire. Install - mount stem and balance are the same cost on top, either way, so not an issue. Give them a shot. Gives the UPS delivery guy a workout!:D
