:?: I am going to wire a 12vdc cigarette plug under the dash, closest to the steering wheel, and need to have layman's directions to the closest (simplest) 12vdc source in which to tap into when I wire it up.

Thanks in advance!

Rather than messing with the fuse box (a definite unknown to me), I just carefully pried the passenger-side cigarette lighter power out of the dash with a flathead screwdriver and tapped into those wires.

That way it was simple (though they don't give you much wire length to work with), fused and had plenty of juice already there for my application.

I then took the subwoofer cover off (a breeze after getting those tiny, painful clips from each side off...) and tucked all my wires nice and neatly inside.

I now have a second cigarette lighter supply under the driver's side near the fuse area. This made for an easy reach with power for my Sirius radio and cell phone hands-free kit.

Now I have dual satellite radio with both XM and Sirius in the Element.

Will post pics of the new power run and installed items in a few days...

You just pried it out? I've been fussing with it for an hour, trying to find some tabs behind it to release it. If you drop the glove box, you can reach up behind and almost get your hand around it.

I want to do the same thing, drop a power line behind the dash on that side for some amateur radio gear. On another forum someone mentioned coming forward to the console from the *rear* power jack. Clever, what?

Back to the driveway....

You actually can pry it out by wedging a small flathead screwdriver, vertically between the right side of the AUX edge and left side of the POWER edge. Use the AUX edge for leverage and pry towards you will pulling on the door lid of the POWER with your other hand.

If you wedge and pull at an angle, you actually have to kind of rock it out.

Be careful and don't pull too hard as there is only about 3" of wire on the back end. You can always unplug the POWER plug from the wiring harness once it is removed so you have more room to tap the wires.
