Thank you for posting that link!

That woman (addendum: EOC's own "Barkdogs") is the greatest advertisement for the Element as a dog-friendly vehicle. Moreover, she's an inspiration for all the good works she does for animals and children.

I noted that among many other volunteer activities she's works with Noah's Wish, which was my favorite charity for Hurricane Katrina-related donations.

And kudos to the southern California Honda dealer who gave away the Element.

That's the heartbeat of America!

And the best part is, she's a member of the EOC (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/member.php?u=24362). :)

There's several posts here in the Truth About Cats, Dogs and The E forum.

That's me guys! Thanks for the nice things everyone said. I have been sending the Elemental Journey to Honda each month to show them how much the E is getting used for good stuff. Can you tell how much I LOVE my E?

My reading dog program has grown (22 dogs now!) to the point that it takes up most of my non-work time so there won't be as many rescue transports. Fox 11 news in LA just came to do a story about BARK and the ELEMENT and that should play sometime in March.

Noahs Wish is a great organization to volunteer with. They don't require you until there is a disaster so it doesn't take that much time away for regular life. 2009 training seminars start in March in all parts of the country. noahswish.org We can always use dog-savvy people on scene. If you don't go to a training seminar and a disaster occurs, Noahs Wish wish can still use your help - just contact me (562)235-8835 or NW directly. We are currently monitoring the Redoubt volcano in Alaska as they have already asked us to be ready if needed. It would be great to get a bunch of element people helping out at the next disaster. I'll rememer to start a thread the next time we get called out.

Barkdogs, I love your reading dogs program! There are so many people that have never heard of it and have no clue what that kind of dog can do for kids.
You are doing some great job there. :)

Barkdogs -- pleased to meet you!

Thanks for all the great work you're doing. And please do let us know when Noah's Wish could use our help (of course, they could always use our $$).

It's just amazing the difference in the kids in the program. Some teachers say their previously shy kids are now bubbly and smiling and live for the day the dogs come to school. Plus their friends are all jealous so that immediately gives them more self-esteem.

Right before Christmas, one of the teams got to school and set up in the library. Two fourth grade boys came in and said "we're here to read to the dogs!" Katie said, "well, we have kids scheduled to come in, but let me call the counselor." The counselor said they could read but then they needed to come to the office. They got to read and had a great time. Turns out, they had been leaving campus before school was out, but saw the dog and thought it would be more fun to come read! That's when we knew we had a good thing.

I'll be sure to let everyone know if NW is deployed for a disaster. If anyone needs animals transported or help in So Cal, I'm here for you!

Great work, barkdogs!

I'm very tempted to man up and pay for the Noah's Wish training in Glendora. Is it an overnight training or a 9a-5p deal?

It's all day on Saturday and 1/2 day on Sunday. Definitely worth the time and effort.

Gidget and I are going to do our first kids reading visit in March -- at Washington's MLK Library. Children who are hearing-impaired.

Dogs are magic.
