Folks
We just located your site today. This is our first message. I am impressed with the site and interaction.
We selected our Silver Element to replace our 91 CRX. We are members of a bike club, called the Geezerriders in Northern MD. Other member of the bike club call our Element the "Tool box". It is a crowd pleaser and attracks folks. We ride the trails around MD, NCR. Western MD, B&A path and such. The Element is great for transporting our TREK bikes and gear.
More later, just a short message for now. Element is the BEST!

Hey there ToolBox!
Welcome to the EOC website!
I also own a silver E and would like to install bikes in the back for me and my gf in the future. I know that other people in this forum have described their particular bike rack setups, but I was curious as to what yours was since it sounds like you're pretty hardcore about riding the trails and stuff.
(i.e. do you use a roof rack? do you have an internal rack of some sort?)
And it also sounds like you're pretty loyal to the TREK brand of mountain bikes. Do you have any suggestions or advice for someone like me who's looking to purchase one in the near future and who is also 6'5"? (i.e. specific models? components to consider? height? length? etc...)
Thanks in advance.

The bike support that we use is a product from Delta Bike Gear. Order online. I do not have the part number, but it is a telescoping channel, with adjusting details on the ends w/cushions that we mounted just inside the tailgate. We take off our front tires from the bike, load the bikes and secure the front fork to mounting details also from Delta. We have been using this setup for the past few years and works well. Previously we used this support in our Jeep Cherokee. But, in the Honda Element we do not have to lower the handle bar and seat. The Element has full height clearance, and we only need to remove the front tires from our bikes and then bungie strap the tires upright next to the bikes. Real smooth and permits additional bag storage on our overnight trips. If you have difficulty locating the Delta website, let me know.
