How would I start looking to find the odd plugs/sockets used in the element (e.g. the non primary head unit's/amp's sockets, and the plugs that fit into them).

Somehow I doubt that Honda/Alpine had them specially manufactured, they just looked for equipment that met their requirements in the area of conductivity/insulation, signal quality, number of pins and size, I assume.

If they got them, we might be able to get them, with the limit, of course, on minimum order size.

My question is, again: how would I start researching these to see if obtaining them was feasible?

Actually, yes, they did. Car manufacturers are known (or, rather, notorious) for engineering their own connector systems. I have, oh, about a dozen industrial electronics components catalogs sitting here devoting probably a combined 3000 pages to connectors, and none of them cover any of the automobile industry types.

They must have reasons, I suppose. Yeah, it's a royal @$$ pain sometimes, but that's just the way they do it.

That's lame! :(

I really don't want to a) cut OEM wiring and/or b) run additional wiring.

The desire to deal with this issue is about 3 car sub-projects away, so I'll shelve it for now.
