I've been a proud owner of my 2003 Honda Element EX since August! I'm a college student so my car is always at high risk of break-ins while on campus. I'm looking for a security system for my E, but not the standard Honda security system. I want something that prevents breakins...something that will go off if a person leans on my car. Someone keyed it last month and I wanna prevent it from happening again. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The hunt is over...I had a Viper security system installed and I'm so glad I did. It not only keeps the car secure but it added keyless entry, automatic locks, valet mode and a bunch for other stuff...and for much cheaper than a Honda security system! Woohoo! 8)

If you have the money, the Compustar alarm is the best there is, period. It will run you at least $500 installed. It uses a proprietary 2-way paging technology that will give you 5 times the range over other 2-way paging alarms. Then if you got more money to spend you can install options like motion detectors, etc.

I'm also shopping around for a car alarm with keyless entry, shock sensors, anti-code grabber and around $300 max with install.

So far my best choice that I saw at a local audio store was:

Baretta Mini 4?
w/ code hopping
4 button remote
$299.99 installed

Any recomendations? Heard of this brand and model? Is this a good choice?

Any comments will be helpful since I want to purchase one really soon.

If you can't afford the Compustar or can't find them in your area, go for a DEI model. DEI makes numerous alarms like Viper, Clifford, etc. They are proven and are available at all price ranges depending on which model you choose. www.directed.com
