: Harper's Ferry Menu thread
Justinb845 03-22-2009, 06:50 PM Ok I have seen this already pop up and well I guess I will start this now being we have a few days to plan LOL
Well as a history with the NE we always end up with WAY TOO MUCH food.
Hints for the taking....
BYOB I all ready have mine LOL
snacks. Bring what you like if you want to share kool.
Any drinks that you like and want to keep leave them on your site and close to you car to keep an eye on.
If your coming from a different part of the country and know of somthing that the group might like....bring it. (jojo and big al is who I think of first)
there hope fully this will help for some people.
(jojo and big al is who I think of first)
Are you implying that since we live in another state that we eat weird food?
Hell were from TX, if it makes a noise were eating it! Just don't make any strange noises around us when were hungry:cool:
What do lawyers eat?
Justinb845 03-22-2009, 07:43 PM I don't know any lawyers do you?
you don't eat weird things, Al maybe , not you
bh045ct 03-22-2009, 07:58 PM Whatever it is we need there is a Food Lion 3.5 miles and the Walmart superstore is 4.3 miles from the KOA. Both are within a mile of each other in Charles Town WV.
Checked on the closes liquor store and it is about 2 miles further down the road from walmart. Plus there is one in the opposite direction in Harpers Ferry about 4 miles away.
Not sure if they sell beer/wine in supermarkets are if you have to go to the liquor stores.
I don't plan on traveling with a lot of food. I figure we can buy it there.
Justin is right(I hate to say that). We always have way too much food.
Justin is right(I hate to say that). We always have way too much food.
Then were in good company, I just bought a weeks worth of food just for my weekend camping trip:D:twisted::shock::oops::|
Kiwi_Box 03-26-2009, 11:13 AM I want Booz,. Use bringing the Moon Shine?
Kiwi_Box 03-26-2009, 02:14 PM Drunken Gummi Bears
Difficulty: Easy
Things You’ll Need:
* Bowl or other container that you can put in the refrigerator
* Vodka
* Gummi bears
Steps:
Fill a bowl or other container about halfway with gummi bears. A glass container with a lid is ideal. It will need to fit in the refrigerator.
Cover the gummi bears with vodka.
Put the container with the gummi bears in the refrigerator overnight.
Remove the container of drunken gummi bears from the refrigerator.
Eat the gummi bears
They need to soak for about a 24 hour period.
There will probably be some residule liquid left at the bottom, you can discard that.
After you take them out you can coat them in Corn Starch to prevent them from sticking together too much as they will be sligthly sticky and bloated.
I have not tried this yet so I am unsure of the onset of the alcohols effects or the potency of it.
Eat/Drink Responsibly.
Gaily 03-26-2009, 02:40 PM Now we know what Kiwi is bring

This aint gonna be pretty!
Dom
boley 04-09-2009, 09:50 AM Important Tip: You cannot buy any beer over 6% in WV, due to our archaic state laws. This means that fans of craft beers will need to drive a few miles to either MD or VA.
This law is currently up for change in the state legislature's spring session, so it may change in time for the event.

Elaine says she can cook just about anything in her convection micro oven....
or over a fire too...
Since we're not 'importing' any food with us (just booze lol) we're gonna wait until we get there to do our shopping anyway...better to see what's on sale in the local grocery, and seeing what the group feels like, before we go to the trouble of buying something others won't eat...lol - although...I haven't seen much that this group won't eat...
So our vote is to wait and see...
what has worked pretty well in the past, is that each person/couple contributes something to the group meal, so if everyone brings something that will feed about 8 ppl - you don't need to play to feed the whole group - that's why we always end up with way too much - and everyone has a bit of what's there, then there is always enought for the whole group...
what we really need, is a few more ppl to bring BBQ's, so that more can be prepared at the same time...we always seem to have a few ppl ending up cooking far into the night....
Have we made arrangements to use a group site, or designated an extra site for all of us to use?

Lorrie420 06-08-2009, 05:19 PM I'm reading through the threads and I see some talk of group meals and having way too much food . Do you usually cook together or do we take care of ourselves or is it a mix of the two ? I'm new to the E meet scene and I would like to know what I should bring as far as food is concernd .

usually we all cook together but you can eat by yourself. Feel free to do what you want
ramblerdan 06-08-2009, 11:22 PM Or cook separately and eat together.
Yeah, no rules.
Tim Vance 06-08-2009, 11:38 PM we usually plan at least one meal - Saturday - as the group meal
Everyone contributes something....(keep in mind that we are all camping)
You don't need to bring enough to feed everyone, since it's pretty much like a pot luck...everyone tries a bit of everything
And that's why we always end up with too much food...since everyone brings enough to feed a big family...lol
dog drool 06-09-2009, 07:55 AM OK so a Sat night pot luck.
Tim would you like to help with a Sunday breafast?
I will have a small table top grill for hot dog, progies ect.

Oh I just love them! I like the cheese, or the mushroom stuffed Pierogies.
Just fried in butter is outstanding!
We thought that there are so many stores in the area, that we will just pick up what we need, when the time comes.
No need to make a project out of it.. Who knows what I'll feel like making 3 weeks from now.
Dom

Spotman 06-09-2009, 07:32 PM As I mentioned somewhere in one of these threads, I am bringing enough smoked/BBQ'd Pork shoulder roast for everyone to enjoy. No, I won't be making it, a good friend here is a pro at it, couldn't resist sharing his specialty. :D
Bob
bh045ct 06-13-2009, 11:55 AM Condiments:
I will bring ketchup, spicy mustard and relish to be shared with everyone.
MoonDrop 06-15-2009, 10:31 PM Was wondering where the pot luck was congregating?
Since we have wing tips, I'll bring BBQ wings to share. Counting down the days, can't wait. I've put 2,000 miles on the tear and should be no problems to Harpers Ferry.
Best MoonDrop
Tim Vance 06-15-2009, 10:37 PM I think we'll wait until we all get there to decide...
We were going to volunteer our site, since it's on a corner, pretty central to everyone, and we have water and hydro...
I know they have a picnic pavilion, but we know that there will be scouts there that weekend, so odds are pretty good that it may be reserved already....
we'll play it but ear, and see what happens....
Spotman 06-16-2009, 07:01 AM In Kiwi's cabin... he will be wandering around the campground.:D
Better yet... at Fish-E's hotel room.
dog drool 06-16-2009, 07:30 AM I have a large 20x20 screen room which we can put up for ground zero just need to figuer out where.

We have the awning of the trailer, plus a 10x10...and I know almost everyone in the NE crew does too (at least...lol)
We could construct a pretty descent tent city, and have done so at Jurn's a few times...
we just need to see who has the most room/best space when we get there...
FISH E 06-16-2009, 05:56 PM No problems with that :)
Dom.five 06-16-2009, 09:24 PM Do you usually cook together or do we take care of ourselves or is it a mix of the two ?
You will find that this bunch is more than flexible! As with the vast majority of groups, there are people you will hit it off with immediately. The others take some time. ( kIWI_Box )
Just kidding.
I think it will become clear that some people will not be up in the morning, as early as others. Some like the Elder ones, will be in bed before the fun starts!:D
Just see what develops. Some will fit your personal time schedule better than others. So one day you may be with one bunch, the next day with another. We are not tied together with chains. We just run wild at different times! Somehow, it does not seem like bedlam at all!
It all works out fine.
Dom
P.S.
Kiwi will be posting the schedule soon.
Please read it thoroughly. You need to know when it's your turn to laugh! Be on time!
