I have many pictures of it....but none with my E in front of it......where is home???? I will be heading home to St. Louis from Chicago on Saturday, perhaps I will stop and take a picture of my E (but it will probably be too dark)
Great Pic!

LMntGuy1982 12-10-2003, 12:52 AM I took that pic the first week of November. I'm from Hazelwood, MO. I was heading home from chicago. Me and my friend saw that "Grain Elevator"(hehe sorry for mixup) on the way down there but it was dark. so we hauled @$$ to get there before the sun set. as u can see we barely made it.
MikeQBF 12-10-2003, 05:28 AM Wow - the St. Louis contingent is growing in leaps and bounds. We're taking over!
(I've seen that elevator, too. Can't place it's location, though. Looks like RR tracks next to it are gone, yes?)
LMntGuy1982 12-10-2003, 05:57 AM nope trax are still there just over grown. The barn.. er.. grain elevator is North of ST louis on 55. 4 miles south of the El Paso, Il exit. very photogenic spot
isketerol 12-10-2003, 11:40 AM Grain elevators are a rare sight anymore. Most of them have been destroyed or have been burnt down. Cool picture.
LMntGuy1982 12-10-2003, 12:11 PM thanks isk
hownowcb 12-10-2003, 08:21 PM I was so busy utilizing my experience of having been once married to a farmers' daughter, that I forgot to say that I, too thought it was an incredibly nice photo! In fact, to me it evokes the Canadian plains. I'm surprised to know something like that is still standing in Illinois or Missouri!
lae10851 12-10-2003, 08:58 PM Very nice and scenic. Someone should take a black and white version!

There are quite a few of those elevators around the rural areas of
St. Louis..More farmers are going back to storing their own grain to save
costs and get the best sale price..One of the best elevators in the area
is in Glen Carbon IL. about 15 miles north east of St. Louis. It was a large
round concrete elevator about 5 stories tall..It has been converted by
being painted to look like a grey stone castle tower and used as a core
building for a lawn and garden type center. It's surrounded with
greenhouses! It's quite the landmark..But to tie the E in to this story..
I passed a GG Element right in front of it today on my way to work..We waved to each other as we passed going in opposite directions..
