: Trails near Buffalo, NY?
Ferenckzy 04-01-2009, 09:42 PM Yo, I'm new to this whole Elementality thing; just got an '03 yesterday, and I must say, I'm quite fond of the little beast.:)
I was just wondering if anyone knew of any trails near the Buffalo area and also what to be wary of so I don't cause excessive strain on the engine or break anything on the undercarriage (I plan on driving the the thing for years to come).
hapyface 04-02-2009, 06:14 AM how about the adridonacks just south of ellicottville?!
ramblerdan 04-02-2009, 10:36 AM Welcome, Ferenckzy. The Element isn't really suited to off-roading.

But its still fun to try...
ramblerdan 04-02-2009, 01:27 PM I should clarify: Should be OK for decent dirt trails, fire roads (depending), beach (don't forget to air down your tires, and carry extraction gear), etc., but low ground clearance and consumer-duty suspension and steering parts means it ain't no Jeep!
Ferenckzy 04-02-2009, 07:06 PM Yeah, I know about the clearance and all that (I've got a Jeep comin' in for the real stuff), I was just lookin' for something different than pavement if I get bored.
The Adirondacks do sound fun, I'm tryin' to plan a little vacation there in the summer.
As far as beaches are concerned, there's only a few near here that I know of, but they don't allow driving on the sand (something about a safety issue, whatever the hell that is).
hapyface 04-02-2009, 10:43 PM i think lake erie is cleaner than lake ontario...but i may be wrong......
at least ur roads are better than south-central ontario where its flat!
I think... US-6 is quite fun... East-West across the mountains...but of course on paved surface
hey, im from the buffalo area too (hamburg) and i just picked up an element today! honestly... i dont think that offroading would be good for the little guy, buffalo roads are bad enough as it is!

Dom.five 01-29-2010, 09:30 AM Welcome to the club!
You can try this off road club (http://forums.4wheeloffroad.com/70/7413494/4x4-clubs/nightkrawlers-offroad-club-buffalo-ny/index.html)!
You may want to go to an event that this (http://www.race360.com/triathlon/races/detail.asp?eventid=12559) bunch puts on, also.
Although it may be a long drive ..

Spam16v 01-29-2010, 02:23 PM go explore the southtowns, outside sardinia there are XC ski trails in the forestry that are just unimproved dirt roads that are fun to explore. park is unmanned now, so just don't be a jackass and no one really minds. i frequent it with the supermoto bike. I'm in West Seneca, and the wife teaches @ city of Tonawanda schools.
