After 500 miles, here's what I think is missing from our SOP EX E.

Seats: I love the material but I wish the seats were a little more supportive. They need a longer seat base. I'm only 5'6" and my legs hang too far over the front edge of the seat for my comfort. On long trips I'm sure this will be really tiring. They could also use some (any) lateral support. They're just too darn flat. A lumbar support would be nice too.

I want a dead pedal in the worst way. This is my first automatic in 10 years and my left foot needs someplace to go.

The lack of adjustable windshield wiper delay is a pain. It NEVER rains at the right rate for the pre-set delay. It only costs a dollar or two more, come on Honda, do it right.

That A post is HUGE!

Give me a remote release gas cap, please.

The cargo cover slots are in the wrong position. Having to lay the rear seats back so far to cover the gap is assinine. I realize the position was probably chosen because of the seatbelt anchors, but come on. Get the accessory group talking to the interior design group so both can work in harmony.

I want heated mirrors as an option at least. They're too big not to be heated.

I love the versatility of the rear seats, but they'd be perfect if you could mount them facing the rear. That would make the E the perfect vehicle for the drive in.

The area for the ignition key is too small. I can forsee the plastic on the steering column getting really scratched up unless you're willing to bend over and look for the slot every time.

I'd also like better protection for the radiator. I dread getting behind a sander because of the potential damage a bouncing rock could do.

The material in the interior needs to be more durable as well. The well documented problem of scratching will lower resale values in the long run.

1. A Post: agree. In particular, be very cautious making turns with pedestrians around, they can easily be hidden by the A post (I know from two embarrassing experiences).

2. Mirrors: agree. I've got a todo item of adding heating elements to mine.

3. Plastic: agree. Already really scratched up. This in a durable vehicle?

4. Radiator: agree. Home depot can help, though.

I agree that the Honda seats are too short.

The seats are plenty supporting for highway cruises. However on fun and twisty highway 41 (north of Kaladar) the seats don't cut it. Where is the side support of the thighs and torso? If the seats held you like the Civic did.. oh la la.

Dead pedal... not existing... in a vehicle costing 23,900 CAD for the base model. I found it rather striking driving my dealers Civic loaner that I commented to the service manager about the lack of the dead pedal in the Element.

Radiator protection is paramount. The biggest issue is that Honda has not even offered this as an option. It appears they slept at the wheel. Blank page. Poor stuff.

I agree about the interior scratching easily. It does. However I use my car in a way that I would never have used a regular vehicle. I'll live with the scratching given that I treat my Elment as a truck with a cover and two bonus seats for the rear passengers.

I find the windwipers are just fine for me. When I drove my mom's car I spent more time fiddling with the speeds. Delay, slow and medium work just find. More importantly the stock works well allowing me to clear the view when needed without hassle or distraction.
