Mine snapped off like a twig the other day when my elbow bumped it when drying the top of my E...I was shocked to see how easy it snapped, plus how cheap of metal was used for this part. Now my problem is how do I replace it? Any been there, done that out there? Help please.......thanks EE

Well, the garage door that has claimed 2 windows and dented my top clamshell has taken the antenna off the top of my E. My question is, it looks like the metal inside the plastic snapped so there is a piece in the actual stick part of the antenna and the other piece is in the "cup" section on the roof. 1)how do I remove the metal piece from the "cup" part on the roof? I am assuming it screws in? 2) are replacements available? Thanks G1

The anntenna does screw into the base. I saw the salesman put one in on my new e today. If there is something to grab hold of, you could unsrew the broken part with pliers. My E was missing an antenna when I took delivery because teenagers had been ripping them off of the E's from the Dealership. So now the remaining E's on the lot are missing the antenna!!

If you don't have enough left to put a pair of pliers on you can get a broken screw remover from most auto part stores. It will contain a drill bit and a funny looking reverse thread screw bit. You drill the hole with the bit, and screw the other piece in the hole, because it is backwards threaded, it will unthread the remainder of your antenna out of the hole. Just be sure to get one that is about half the diameter of the antenna. Good luck

Did you ever find a good solution? My antenna also snapped off quite easily. The broken stud is left in the roof with nothing to grab onto to remove it. It's a very small stud so I don't think an EZ-out screw extractor is going to work....
Incidentally, the radio reception is nearly as good w/o the antenna as it was with it... Although that was mediocre at best. I've been driving it for over a year without one.

Wow sorry to hear that. I actually swapped my attenna wth my friends golf. It looks a lot better imo (like a big radio controlled car) and get the same reception...bad..

Take a small screwdriver, angle it left (counter clockwise) on the stud and GENTLY tap it with a small hammer. That should loosen up the stud --use some WD40--so you can turn it with some type plies, vise grip etc.
