Hey all, well day 4 of driving my new E, I heard a loud pop sound while waiting to turn left at a turn light. Then I looked and there was a little crack on the passenger side corner that slowly spread and now is probobaly like 15 inches or so long. I took it into my dealership and they said it was a rock chip. They pointed to a tiny little mark that looks like something hit the windshield which was on the black side part of the windshield (you know, it's where the factory black stuff is on the sides). Is this the exact way that everyone else's has been cracking or is this really a rock chip?

Let me guess, the service guy took a pencil and ran it across the crack to find some sort of impact, right? That is there common practice it seems which is BS by the way. They will try to find anything such as a little pit to say that caused it. If it started from the outer edge of windshield, then it is a stress crack. A pit cannot cause a crack unless there is some sort of stress on the windshield already. If there is no star impact, print the TSB out bring it to them and all the complaints and tell them it is not acceptable. If that same dealer give you problems, go to another dealer. I had two cracks in windshield, second came from bottom corner driver side. Service manager found pit so he said with pencil, which I replied you gotta be kidding me and laughed.

Sounds like a stress crack, it should be 100% warranty covered. Bring a printout of the TSB with you! (search for TSB and windshield).

If your dealer won't cover it, try another honda dealer, and make sure you bring the rest of your business to them if they treat you right.

just keep working on it. mine did the same thing. they after examining it with a pocket microscope said it was a road hazard. but after complaining loud and long to everyone (LOL) and i do mean everyone...my dealer replaced it under warranty (after honda contacted them)

can i guess that it was cold outside and you had the defroster on?

just curious
best and happy holidays
