If everything goes to plan I'll be picking this up Saturday. http://picasaweb.google.com/tdcampers/TheGeckoGrottoTeardropBuild0511To0606#

It's Cubby build to the Kuffel Creek plans. I've got the hitch and stuff ordered for the SC. I'm loving the Element even more than I though I would. And I've been lurking the TD forums and staring at them everyday for months now.

That's so flattering.

I don't have my teardrop on my phone (Gidget's there).

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

mmmmmmm questions, questions......

do you have a spare copy of the plans?

what is the white material you used for the "shell"?

where/what is the edging used all around?

how much of a pain was it to bend/form the roof wood?

thanks, Pat

I've got a 5x10 snowbear trailer with a diamond plate deck that I'd love to build one of these to slide in & off of........

again, AWESOME!!!!

Nice find, I especially like the cabinetry. Seems they put a lot of time into it. The population of Element and Tear owners are growing daily it seems. In the future, you may want to invest in a new torsion axle, hubs and full size rims/tires. I am definitely doing that to my tear in the future. The advantages are less bouncing (more stability) and what bouncing you do get , the wider tires help to slow it down /make it more stable. The torsion axle also allows you to adjust the height of the trailer depending on the vehicle your towing it with. The lower the ride, the lower the center of gravity which reduces fish tail and ultimately a wreck. Just food for thought. The full size tires and your matching rims/hubs to the Element would also look real nice especially if you add reproduction fiberglass, retro fenders, which is my plan. Can't wait to see it at Harpers Ferry. Congrats.

Hey Hiker Chick what is a "tribble"?

Best, MoonDrop

A graphic that compliments your E's color would be nice.

But I've got that matching purse and shoes bias.

If you look closely at the pics you can see that the "polymax" that was used to skin the TD is wavy/bubbly. I was thinking something other than a solid color would help hide it.

But I agree that a rootbeer metallic matching TD would be cool.

That delaminated look is caused by an insufficient application of adhesive. I have used Polymax (http://farmtek.com/farm/supplies/prod1;ft1_building_material-ft1_polymax_wall_4;pg106835.html) sheets in a dairy milk room as wall covering. We found that the application of the adhesive is critical. It requires more than the manufacturer recommended. You may also find that getting paint to adhere to it may be problematic. However, it is a durable product.

If your thinking of constructing a tear drop from an alternative materiel. I would also look at Starboard (http://www.kingstarboard.com/Products/Starboard.aspx). Outstanding Product, with good rigidity for construction.
