The Mrs moved us from a rental house to a nice big condo when I was in Afghanistan (yay no yardwork).

The only downfall is about the new place, there is no spigot to hook a hose up to to wash the E and the Civic. This makes me sad.

Today I was in a hurry and I needed the cars cleaned quick (thanks to having a lovely toddler and company coming into town). Anyways... I took both cars to a namby pamby full service car wash.

Civic first, got a basic wash... looked good.

The E was next.

She's my baby so I went all out and got a deluxe wash. When I was gone, this was the primary kid mobile, and the poor E looked the part. There was a few milk spills that were never cleaned up and cereal in all the weirdest spots. I figured with the deluxe wash they were supposed to wipe down the interior, vacuum it out and wash the exterior. All they did to the floor was vacuum. Milk spots still on floor, cup holders still dirty. Ugh. :-x

I really didn't need them to vacuum the floor as I had already dust bustered after I used my detailing brush... just needed them to wipe it down well for the final finesse.

I will not be going back there... I'll just be washing it at one of those wash your own places and cleaning the floor myself.

What does everyone use to clean the floor, just mild soap and water? I do know Armor All = Bad.

I had mine washed and detailed once at a very popular car wash.

I was so dissapointed in the job they did, I'll never put Sunny through that again. They also sprayed some kind of wax on her that ran all down her and on the panels, and I had to re-wax her when I got home.

To me those places are just for lazy people who want a washed car and don't want to do it themselves, the quality of the wash they could care less about.

One of the best parts about the Element is how easy it is to clean the floors.

I have used water, soap and water, windex, simple green.
Not all at once, all seem to get the floor clean.

Sorry to hear you guys have had such bad luck. Now that I have a house I usually Wash my E at home. However when i lived on Chicago's Southside in a dinky little apt it was nearly impossible to wash on the street. Often you were wedged in so close when you park you could barely walk between the cars.

There were Hand Car washes in my Hood that would do an excellent job for about $12-14. They would wipe everything down, Vacum, clean glass inside and out, and even clean every nook and cranny on your rims if you slipped them a tip.

Urban living makes washing a car a real hassel. One more reason I migrated to the burbs.
