: Big 3 and amp location q's
MyLimpIsGangsta 04-25-2009, 12:28 PM Has anybody done the big 3 upgrade to their elements? I'm doing this along with installing an Optima yellow top battery, 0 guage amp wiring kit, Pioneer avh4000 indash touchscreen dvd, (2) Rockford Fosgate T115d4 subs and a T1000-1bd amp. Just waiting for it all to get here and it's going in next week.
Where is a good place to mount the amp? The box isn't a good place everyone says and I want to keep it off the floor so I can still take the seats out. Where have some of you mounted your amps? Thanks

BigAl205 04-25-2009, 10:33 PM Here's the big 3 http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52291
Not sure on the amp. What are the dimensions? It might fit under the front seat....or maybe it's own trailer :D
MyLimpIsGangsta 04-26-2009, 10:33 AM The amp is about 18x3x13. I did some more looking around and as someone mounted some amps over the storage bins in the rear I think I'll go with that idea. It's just hard to really look through everything on here cause for some reason my computer won't let me go to this site so I have to use my iPhone to look everything up
BigAl205 04-26-2009, 10:54 AM I gotcha. Just make sure your seats will fold up before you mount it permanently
Gboybst578 04-26-2009, 09:22 PM i got mine mounted over the bin. click on my link to cardomain.

damyandmytri 04-27-2009, 01:12 PM great mods, Gboy. I wish I had that kind of imagination.
HappyCamperinLA 04-28-2009, 01:16 AM I followed e4u2c's lead and mounted a amp behind each seat, like this:
http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=61631&stc=1&d=1224919298
It's the only place for an amp, in my opinion.
Installers - BigAl Weigh in please
BigAl205 04-28-2009, 01:44 AM I dunno...I would be afraid of overheating, PITA running the wires, figuring out how to hold it...
I think mounting it on the back side wall is probably best and easiest, overall. IIRC, Big Tz has his amps mounted on custom panels that span the rear widows on the Kicker E.

Free heated seat mod too

Overheating has not happened yet. The wires fit neatly between the fabric and the hinge, and rout under the seat frame to the sill track. What could be easier? At the top of the seat back, under the foam flap, there is a sturdy metal wire that is part of the seat frame. I used zip ties to secure the amp to this seat frame. Simple.

Sounds good to me
MyLimpIsGangsta 05-02-2009, 04:31 PM Well turns out my T1000.1bd amp is way too big for any of the mounting options I've seen so I went to a local audio shop and I'm having a custom fitted tuned slot port box and amp rack built. I'll get pictures up next week when it's finished. I'm also adding a high output alternator to the mix as well.
