: backup lights - awful!!!

Has anyone noticed how "tiny" the actual backup lights are on the Honda Element...and has anyone noticed that you really are never sure if they are working....in fact, I had to get someone to get out and actually look to see if they were on the other night....they are not only very, very poor in terms of the amount of light they give but they don't seem to light up much of anything....they are located so very high up on the back of this vehicle that they really don't work well....any ideas of what I can do? I live in rural Canada and having good backup lights in the dark countryside is very important. I consider this to be a real serious design flaw. Oh, by the way, I do love my Honda Element but am really concerned about this problem which I consider to be a safety issue, surely.

I don't have an issue with the lights but I thought I'd get one of these to scare everyone at the parkade.

In addition to the beeper, the link above also has some backup lights that are supposed to be super bright. Maybe you would like to try those.

Also, on another thread I saw some very bright backup lights that mounted on your trailer hitch, if you have one. They were like small headlights for the rear of the vehicle.

I checked out the design-tech site and indeed saw some great powerful backup lights that were 250% more powerful than the regular ones; however, when I checked the kinds they had, there were none available for the Honda Element. So, that sucks.......It seems that Honda Element "stuff" is not always going to be available....I tried to get some snow tires the other day and was told that the BF Goodrich (high recommended) winter tires were not available anywhere ....and its only mid December...its going to be a long winter, I think and I NEED good traction here in rural Canada. I suppose I should have ordered these tires in September and not December, right? My two complaints...the backup lights and not having winter tires.....could be worse...
