Ted will be in Pensacola doing some training before shipping out to the middle east. I'm going to drive down to meet him Saturday, June 6. It's been a while since I've been to Pensacola, so we need advice on a good place to meet and eat. Of course, anyone is free to join us to eat and wish him a safe journey. A time has not been set yet. Please give us some ideas. ;-)

Jerry's Cajun Cafe has great Po Boys

Pizza, Beer, different atmosphere try Ozone Pizza in the old Sacred Heart Hospital.

Thanks for the suggestions. Have you ever tried the Bonefish Grill? I was doing a city search and it's looking good to me. http://www.bonefishgrill.com/

Benny, just an update...The Bonefish Grill doesn't open until 4PM and Rocket Dog would like for us to tour the Naval Aviation Museum. We came up with the idea that we would drive down Saturday morning, meet around noon to tour the museum, drive over to eat and hang out, then possibly come up with something else to do that night before going to the hotel. Whaddaya think?

Of course, everybody else is welcome to join us. :)

EDIT: He doesn't arive until Tuesday and then he will contact me with his itinerary.

Thanks for the links. Since Rocket Dog is now a captain, maybe we can get a specialized tour.

Sounds like a plan. I looked and saw that the Blue Angles are NOT going to be in town on the 6th... they are doing a show up in Illinois or Indiana. :-x But the museum tour is a great idea. There is a D-Day anniversary event going on, the Marine Band is playing a concert.

I made reservations at the Motel 6 for Saturday night, real decent price, it's the one on Plantation Road.

I guess I should plan on hitting town about 11:00 - 11:30 am ??

this is penscola's 450th b-day ,this wensday a spanish "long ship" (great big humongous sail boat oops ship 6 or 7 masts) is going to dock in pcola.I dont know how long it will be there ,probly a few weeks. should be great to see also.
one of my other daughters worked at the bonefish grill in panama city. it was ok.kinda high faluten for me. (suits ties, etc.viper, vett, mersedes). to me good food dosent half to cost alot just as expensive food dosent always taste to good. sorta like it's not the company you keep but the ones that keep you company. and thats my falosafickel for the day.

bonefish grill does have okay food but...
it's a chain restaurant

Jerry's, Fish House, Cactus Flower, Madison's, Ozone are all locally owned and operated with great food. Hopjack's is the new place for pizza, beer and local young professionals to gather. Just across the street from it is the Global Grill. If your "downtown" you can also try Hub Stacey's or Dharma blue. They both have a few outdoor tables that overlook the park at Seville Square and are near the port of Pensacola.
I don't get to the west side very oftern so I can't recommend anything over there.

Other local restaurants
Skopelo's for seafood on the bay
McGuire's Irish Pub - an original Pensacola destination restaurant - do a google search - expect a crowd at dinner time
Jackson's - fine dining with a fine dining price

I hope you have a great time this approaching weekend.

bh241
06-02-2009, 07:28 AM
Personally I would just as soon sit down at a local 'joint' - something 'unique' to the area without being so 'high and mighty' nor expensive as all get out - yea, I know - call me cheap. I'm not planning to pack as suit for this trip anyhow....

Most likely I'll be wearing blue jeans, a t-shirt, and those are likely to be garnished with fluffs of dog hair... ;-)

Hub's is the way to go then...

www.hubstaceys.com (http://www.hubstaceys.com)

Second choice would be Fish House
http://fishhouse.goodgrits.com/

Great food
I love the corn fritters and many folks are really jazzed about soft shell crab and grits.

BigAl205
06-02-2009, 12:48 PM
The Fish House looks good to me. I was just going by online reviews since I haven't been in a while. Why don't we do something fast for lunch, do the tour, and then eat at the Fish House whenever we get ready.

Wow all these ppl popping from back home. My wife and I are from the Crestview area. There's a really good MExican place there in c'view, Azteca on 85, North end of town, next to the Goodwill on the right.

I live in Vegas and the "best Mexican restaurant" here sucks compared to them.

There's also a slew of great places in FTW to eat, if you like pizza go to the Mellow Mushroom.

Mellow Mushroom is another chain but they do have awesome pizza and beer.

If you're in Fort Walton, Navarre or soon to be in Crestview try
