: Haters cracked our windshields!!
martinguyen 06-21-2009, 12:49 PM I was at my friend's house last night and left our cars to go riding our motorcycles. He had a fixed up 240sx and my element parked behind his. Some haters come rolling by after we left and broke our windshields. Fortunately, he got hit by something bigger, and they had something little to throw at me.

HOP OFF YALL HATERS :-x
GO EFF YOURSELVES TOO!! LOL
scanrps 06-21-2009, 02:04 PM Sorry that happen bud.:-(
Looks like a nice neighborhood too, I guess you never know where
that can happen. Your friend needs to get a security cam up to catch
these loser's in action.
Serj22 06-21-2009, 02:33 PM ...but the mercedes and infinity and other expensive cars are untouched...
sounds like someone who's mad at your friend, or you. I'd crack their "windshields" too. Whoever it is probably doesn't have a car. Also, whatever they threw would be in front of the car, as it bounced off the window. If you had the money, you could get it fingerprinted and see who threw it if they are a re-offending hoodlum. That way you don't have to pay for your windshield...
BLK BOX 06-21-2009, 02:39 PM They were probably Scion Xb owners or Nissan Cube owners and they were just jealous of your E. Sorry about that though, stupid vandles!

Actually, that's what we have police departments for. :)
I'd definitely be reporting it. Probably some stupid kids out for kicks.
Good luck with it.

.
true... but... they won't bother unless you have the object in question and they really think something will come of it. It's not expensive to have a private investigator dust some stuff for you and send the prints in.
martinguyen 06-21-2009, 03:49 PM the picture with the mercedes and infinity is at my house in the driveway. it happened over at my friends house which was the neighborhood accross the street. Our cars werent the only ones that got hit up. all up and down the street, cars had been keyed up, broken windows, and all sorts of trash. these kids are idiots. it had happened before, but not for a while, so i figured it be ok to park out again.
the sad part was, that my friend DOES have a security camera on top of his garage to look out to the front, but..... IT WASNT RECORDING!!!!
oh well, im gettin the glass replaced tommorow morning. i hate stupid kids
04EXE 06-21-2009, 08:47 PM  what jerks! atleast it was just the windshield.... just be grateful they didn't screw w/your paint, then i'd be REALLY pissed!!!
iRichard360 06-22-2009, 02:28 AM Oh man, if this were me, i would HUNT THEM DOWN...
I wouldn't care how long it takes, or how I do it, just know, they would PAY...
ORANGEE 06-22-2009, 07:45 AM summer time and bored teenagers, never a good combination.................
sorry about your luck
yeah, young socio-paths in the making. Doesn't happen a lot here in Texas (after-dark deadly force laws tend to be a pretty good deterrent - as well as distilling the gene pool a bit from time to time).
Texas Sec. 9.42. DEADLY FORCE TO PROTECT PROPERTY. A person is justified in using deadly force against another to protect land or tangible, movable property:
(1) if he would be justified in using force against the other under Section 9.41; and
(2) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary:
(A) to prevent the other's imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime; or
(B) to prevent the other who is fleeing immediately after committing burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, or theft during the nighttime from escaping with the property; and
(3) he reasonably believes that:
(A) the land or property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means; or
(B) the use of force other than deadly force to protect or recover the land or property would expose the actor or another to a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.
martinguyen 06-22-2009, 08:27 AM just got to work. theres a place down the street that changes windshields. im a little nervous, cause i know its not gonna be as good as the original windshield. anybody ever changed their windshields out yet? cause i was thinking about getting it changed over at the honda dealership, but im pretty sure thats gonna be pricey.. and my other friend told me to use my insurance to claim the damage, but im under 24, and dont want my rates jumping one bit! next time i see these kids, imma shoot them =)

I've done one, no issues with aftermarket
protaganis 06-22-2009, 10:07 AM Ask them if you can take a look at their finished product IE. a car they've repaired. Also find out if they guarentee their work. If they do, go there.
If they won't stand behind the work they do, find someone else to fix it.
Also, tell your friend to fix his doggone camera system! You could be having the little twerps who caused this headache pay for it (and by association ALL the vandalism caused that night on that street) if you had video the cops could use.
Snuffleupagus 06-22-2009, 12:25 PM Ok. See. People like that needs to be brutally eradicated from existence.
Sorry your E got vandalized, Martinguyen.
Twilightzero 06-22-2009, 03:13 PM That sucks man! Call out the Twirates, we'll keel haul 'em! YARRRR!
mkh, unfortunately they're not young sociopaths in the making, they're just young sociopaths. The general rule of thumb that I've oft heard repeated is "if a kid doesn't know right from wrong by age 8, they probably never will really learn it". If they're already doing crap like this, it means they're most likely going to go through their adult lives in and out of trouble with the law...
Eww-an E 06-22-2009, 04:56 PM Damn! Sorry to hear about this.:-(
martinguyen 06-22-2009, 10:40 PM well, i got the windshield replaced today. it actually turned out very good. they charged $100, but i prepaid and tipped them a 20 to be gentle and to let me put the stickers and etc back onto the windshield. that $20 actually put them into a good mood, and they upgraded my windshield with the blue tint that runs across the top of the window. that was pretty cool, but i would have preferred like a black tint or so, but im not complaining. they did an awesome job!!

OEM glass is usually made by the lowest bidder. There isn't a decline in quality by getting a replacement as long as you go OEM. It can only be better, not worse. OEE is worse (Safelite).

Too true - but they know right from wrong (or they wouldn't be breaking windshilds at night when no one can catch them), they just don't think those rules apply to them. Wife is a teacher (4th grade - retired this year) and saw it all the time. Kids at 9 and 10 years old who, for whatever reason - upbringing, genetics, acted like that, were usually a "guest of the State" by 18 or 19.

They know it from the standpoint of you can ask them questions about right and wrong and they can parrot back answers, but they still don't know and understand it from an emotional level. They need to establish this connection and be able to control themselves at a minimum baseline level on their own prior to starting some parts of their brain development or the connections never get made and reinforced. In geekspeak, their prefrontal cortex hasn't developed yet and their environment and behavior patterns prior to this do effect it.
From t3h intartubes:
The prefrontal cortex (PFC) is the very front of the brain, located right beneath the forehead. It is in the anterior (front) region of the frontal lobes. Besides being the front of the brain physically, it is responsible for the executive functions, which include mediating conflicting thoughts, making choices between right and wrong or good and bad, predicting future events, and governing social control -- such as suppressing emotional or sexual urges. The prefrontal cortex is the brain center most strongly implicated in qualities like sentience, human general intelligence, and personality.
When the pathways between the prefrontal cortex and the rest of the brain are damaged due to head injury, massive personality changes can result. The prototypical example is Phineas Gage, a railway worker whose prefrontal cortex was destroyed by a railroad spike. He survived, but he exhibited shocking behavior, getting into fights and choosing the pleasurable and the easy over longer-term satisfaction. One might say that the prefrontal cortex is the neurological basis of the conscience. Weak interconnections between the prefrontal cortex and the rest of the brain have been observed in criminals, sociopaths, drug addicts, and schizophrenics.
I agree. Lots of evidence of "physical" causes, but also social. Seen it in kids whose parents "blame" the system, ie their kids are always right, their boss, the school, teachers, police, any one in authority is "picking" on them and their kids. Kids learn real quick in that kind of environment that they can do anything they want, then lie to the parents, and they will be backed up 100% Monkey see monkey do. If the parents are doing it - kids will follow. One way to get lots of parent attention, in households were parents treat their kids as a burden or furniture. Seen 8 year olds swear at teachers, and throw things at them - then tell parents that the teacher hit them, and the parents, even with other kids & teachers as eye witnesses, back their kid, and attack the school. In an environment like that, kids develop zero self-control or boundries, and do whatever they want. Like you said, if kids aren't "trained" by 8 as to appropriate behavior, they are pretty much done.
Twilightzero 06-23-2009, 08:54 AM IMHO schools need to go back to the old British Navy model: Rum, buggery, and the lash.

marksbug 06-23-2009, 09:17 AM crack heads? probly not. realy kool kids yup that would be it. remindes me of the 2nd crocadile dundee movie.what was vandelism is kool now. morons need I say more.bad deal ,good luck.
martinguyen 06-23-2009, 02:26 PM ^^Nice! Did you take it to them,or did they come to your house to replace it?
i took it to them. they were literally a 10 seconds drive down the street from the muffler shop. it only took me a minute to walk over after dropping off and picking up my car. so it wasnt bad at all. the place just looked a little sketchy to get any car done at their shop, but looks are deceiving =]
Eww-an E 06-23-2009, 03:46 PM ^^Gotcha.:)

so if i read and inferred correctly, this aftermarket windshield is better/stronger then factory? =D

If it is OEM, it must be at a minimum as good as the factory glass. My E had its windshield replaced with Honda glass a month before i bought it. I already have a larger star in the middle and a nice crescent on the passenger side. I want it replaced so I can enjoy an non-cracked window for more than a few weeks. Your glass may be a tad better than stock, but I don't know if it will be impervious to the wrath of the local hooligans.
ieatflux 07-02-2009, 02:58 AM shucks. i mean, good thing it wasnt too expensive and thank god they didnt do anything to dent the car in anyway. life is too short to be worrying too much about whodunits anyway.
but boy, if i ever did catch anybody in the act. i mean, MY 20,000 dollars worth of equipment....
im getting the baseball bat in im gonna go to town on them;-) before i call the police.
