HELP!!!
I JUST BOUGHT MY E THIS WEEK AND NOTICE SOMETHING WIERD THAT I HAVE NEVER SEEN. WHEN MY GAS TANK READ "E"(AND THE LIGHT WENT ON) I WAS THROWN OFF BY ONLY HAVING 250 MILES ON THAT TANK... SO I WENT TO FILL UP AND IT ONLY PUT IN 12 GALLONS, LEAVING 4 GALLONS LEFT
.. MY QUESTION IS DOES EVERYONE ELSE'S E DO THAT OR DOES MINE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS GAUGE, I MEAN ITS KINDA A WIERD FOR IT TO RESEVE A WHOLE QUATER OF A TANK, WHILE READING EMPTY.

AND IT MAKES IT HARDER FOR ME TO JUDGE MY OVERALL MILEAGE.
PLEASE EDUCATE ME ON THIS TOPIC!!!!

First things first....welcome and congrats on your new E!

Second....please do not use CAPS as it is a sign of screaming/yelling....and we are a pretty reserved group

Third....the answer you seek is held within our boards....please look around and use our search engine to find numerous threads about Gas Mileage, Gas Tank reserve, etc....I think a good place to start is in the Under The Hood/Performance Forum

Happy Motoring!

This message is directed to BajaE

What they forgot tell you, when you were scolded is
1. NEVER,NEVER, write negative things on this websight about your Element.

2. RUN WHILE YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE. These people are nuts. They think that they are talking about a human being when they refer to their cars.

I got my scolding for my negative comments. I now only have positive things to say when talking about my baby.

Your friend and fellow scoldee, Joemomma

Please, JoeMomma, don't talk about my Precious that way. It hears you and is disturbed. Now it will want more wax. Sigh.

Just to clarify a few things here, Diane was in no way being rude. This is a question that could be answered easily by using the search function or reading the posts. I understand new users have the newbie question, and generally jump in to help but a little foot work for the user wouldnt be a bad thing.

Second off.
joemomma I will assume I am the "nut" you are talking about. Please grow up and stop your helpless posts. We exchanged words and I have NO hard feelings about it. I think anytime you have helpful information you should chime in just dont jump to bad mouth everything. Just please move on and let it go. You carried this to far when you sent the sarcastic private message that several other users on these boards has read and enjoyed. Please lets move on already and stop this.

BajaE,
Mine's just like yours as far as the needle, the light, and the 12 gallons, but I get 300 miles out of those 12 gallons. 5-speed, 2wd, warm weather. Once I'm more confident of the mileage, I'll go to 350-375 miles.

Mine also has ~1/4 tank (4 gal) remaining when the gage reads E. This is really annoying. However, on the plus side, it seems to be accurate @ 1/2 tank( last night I put 7.5 Gal in when the gage read ~1/2). Honda's attempt (as was suggested by others) to have owners avoid being stranded because they ran out of gas is like the same trick some people use when they set their clock/watches ahead by 5-10 minuets. I prefer an ACCURATE gage then I can use my own judgement and get stuck on my own
