hey all I will back in alabama soon after I finish up my rotation here in iraq. I was wondering if any of the folks from S. Alabama or N. Florida can give me any tips or comments on honda dealers in the area. I will be in Dothan, Alabama area and am ready to purchase an element (EX AWD w/SAB)as soon as I get back. Thanks in advance. 8)

Hang in there. Someone in that area will chime in soon.

Welcome back (in advance) and thanks for what you've done!

(May I recommend SOP as a positively fine choice? 8) )

I'm in Mobile but Tredwell Honda here in town will try to screw you if you are trading in. I bought mine out right and a week later my wife wanted to trade in here minivan but they wanted to give me $3000.00 under wholesale, no deal, we bought her a KIA Sorento instead. If you just buy out right you'll do OK.

Thank you for your service to our great nation.

I had a terrible time dealing with the three Birmingham stores (Roebuck, Tameron, Neil Bonnett) on a new E in November. Everyone wanted at least 500 over invoice and wouldn't do anything on the trade.

Covington Pike (Memphis) agreed to invoice plus doc fee ($2xx) and I was getting ready to buy from them when a used '03 E turned up on Roebuck's lot. I paid what I felt was high for the used E, but it was still a better deal -- all considering -- than the new '03 in Memphis. And with a used one, you can get it "certified" which turns the 3/36,000 into a 4/48,000. The used E had 10K on it, so I lost nothing in warranty time.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the southern dealers. And I sold my trade on my own -- got 3K more for it (2001 Mustang GT convertible) than the best offer from a dealer).

Thanks everyone for the informative and helpful replies. I am willing to roadtrip if i can find the right deal. So if anyone in N.Florida or S.Georgia has any input it would be most appreciated. Thanks again, haj :)

Hope I'm not too late on this. 2 days ago I traded my 2000 Town and Country in on the sweet thing sitting in my driveway... 04 4WD EX with roof rack and mudflaps (had 12 miles on it). It took 4 hours, but we finally came to an equitable meeting of the minds, including 7/100k w/$0 deductable warrenty. Be sure to ask for Scott Bobo (my salesman). He was great. I definitely didn't steal it, but I wasn't expecting to. I knew book trade-in range on my van, and list on the E, so that's what I was shooting for. My brother&wife tried all the central AL dealerships, trying to buy a Honda van... the dealers were so unreasonable that they bought a Toyota instead. Good luck in your search. You'll love your E!

I had a horrible time of it at Tamerron Honda in Birmingham. Two weeks of haggling on a '04 AWD AT EX. $21,500 plus tax and title was the best I could do. In a moment of being pi**ed, I called Jasper Honda and asked for a price over the phone. He told me $21,495. I told him I already had a handshake deal for that price and to make it worth my wlile to drive to Jasper. He gave me $20,912. I thought "What the heck, it's 500+ off". I asked for a drive out price with all the add on fees. "$20,912" he said.
I drove to Jasper that night. Got my E'

i live in oxford...i called around the whole state an told them what i wanted and asked for a price...turns out they all were giving me a price on the same car because it was the only manual transmission in the state at that time...it turns out the people that had the car gave me the lowest price so i bought it from them down in enterprise alabama.....sam boswell honda....only downfall is that i had to drive 2hours to pick it up and then 2 hours back home...but it worked out

I purchased two weeks ago from Pensacola Honda for $300 under invoice. I imagine if you dealt exclusively with the sales manager you might get a lower price.

Just checked out this thread. My wife and I bought our Element at Jim Skinner Honda in Dothan, AL. Walked in and 4 hours later walked out with our 2005 EX on Feb 10. The people at Jim Skinner were excellent and our salesman Stan West did not let us leave without our new Element.... Plus my wife would not leave without her new Element. She fell in Love and I was somewhere there signing the loan papers..........

I imagine that the original poster has his/her E by now, but others may stumble accross this thread who are still looking.

I had a fine experience at Tameron of Birmingham. Wound up with an '05 2WD EX MT @ $18,300 + $399 doc fee or $18,699 plus tax & title. I think I could have done a little better if I kept at it, but there are only so many hours in the day.

I know 3 folks who have purchased from Tameron in the last 90 days, and all have been very happy with the experience. However, as always, YMMV.

tameron in daphne sucks....period...salesmen are rude and will not listen to a word you say.

i just saw my dad go through the truck buying hell and was so glad i talked to matt. he was not pushy, answered every question i had, and even helped me out (this was my first new car purchase)

I have to go with Treadwell Honda in Mobile too. I'm from the Gainesville FL area and got the best deal in Mobile. Did it all on the Internet. Drove out there and in an hour had my 2005 EX 4WD. Was a great experience and man do I love this ride! Deal with Joe Sutter the Internet Sales Manager.
