225/60 would be fine, closest to stock, 235/60 would be perfect imo on a 8" wide wheel. A great place too look for reviews of tires is discounttiredirect.com or tirerack.com. I put kuhmo platinum's on my wife's car and love them, also look at gerneral's, great tires at great prices. Also, nokian is a top choice around here.

i think 225 would be stretching the tire a little bit. I have 225/70 on my rims and they are a little stretched. I would go with 235.
the first number is the width of the tire, the second number is the height of the sidewall, and the third number is the size of the wheel.
Im running BFGoodrich Radial T/A. I havent had mine for long, but the tread wear is not much. I think they are rated at 60,000 miles

you go with a 7.5" rim instead of a 8" wide rim, 225/65 would fit with no rubbing unless you plan to lower it. The difference in size would in turn make your speedo off by 1.6 mph. When your going 58.4ish, your actually doing 60mph. So in turn your motor is spinning a little(and I mean a little) bit lower rpm to do the same speed which is always nice. It might look a little weird with little taller sidewall. If you go with the 225/60, your speedo will have to read 61.2mph to actually be going 60, which in turn, your turning more RPM's to do the same speed which can affect mpg's a little, negativly. Any more questions, just ask, later.

Here's a crude copy and paste of the spec line for one tire in the 225/60/17 size
The overall diameter of 27.7" is just a bit smaller than stock. The 1652 lb load rating is about 100lb less than stock; my guess that is not a problem. The allowable rim width 6-8" includes your desired width, but the 'measured' width is 6.5". If I were to pick the tire size first, and the rim to match I'd choose this width, not one at the upper end of the allowable range.
The other thing you need to pay attention to is the rim offset, especially when choosing a wider rim.
