Foolishly, I had Honda install the Keyle$$ entry and Security System at the time I purchased my E- (Jan 30 2003). So today, some 3 weeks later and 1000 miles. The Securty system seems dead. I actually went to pick up the plates today from the dealer, and Click-click- The lights flashed and the horn blew---Well that was the last time the security system worked- In reading all the posts- Everyone keeps speaking of an LCD above the steering Wheel---There is none on mine- I do have Below the raidio, closer to the floor what I always considered a light (and a small speaker) for the security system- but for the life of me today I can not recall ever seeing it light/Blink- Then to right of the CD player I do have a light that bllinks- The horn has NEVER engaged when I previously set the seccurity system and I would attemp to open the Hood or Doors, just to hear it go off- MY only indication would be that it was indeed working was when I would set it--I'd get a flash of light and then a Honk of the horn---
English, please English---I know where the key goes, I know where the gas goes- I just feel that something is not right yet I am cluless as to what to look for when I return to the dealer- Without tearing the car apart- What tips/hints can I look for to make sure that this has been installed and installed correctly-
I need to go back to the dealer armed with information- and I have none-
Any info would be greatly appreciated
THANKS :D :( :(

I don't have the factory alarm, or keyless entry....

The flashing light on the top corner of the stereo is the stereo anti-theft feature... or somethng like that. Has nothing to do with the alarm.

I believe the only flashing light from the alarm from what I have read is near the shifter. If you go to and look at the instructions on how to install the alarm, you will see what lights are what. I think it might even explain the way it works.

No matter what, head to the dealer and either ask for the alarm to be removed and your money refunded or ask them to repair it. (http://www.handaaccessories.com\\HandA[/url)

The standard install for the factory alarm makes two changes in the cabin:

1) On the top part of the steering column assembly, an LED is installed, that blinks slowly when the alarm is armed.

2) Underneath the hazard light button on the shifter, a glass breakage detecting microphone is installed (about the diameter of a dime, maybe slightly larger).

Are you sure about the factory alarm?
I have the alarm Honda offered with the Element and it has no blinking light and no (noticable) microphone.

I'm sure. On this page:

You can find the installation instructions:

http://www.handa-accessories.com/element/elementsecurity.pdf

Which note the placement of the red LED and the glass breakage mic.
