I was scouting around for accessories for my wife's Axim Pocket PC and stumbled across a site that has several PDA holders for cars. The reviews on the Arkon products seem very positive... might be worth a look:

Arkon makes good stuff. I used thier flexible pedestal for my nav installation. You might want to take a look at Arkon's actual web page since they show thier complete line there...

But only OK. That said, I guess OK is fine when you're almost the only show in town.

I develop mobile PDA applications for a living - such as that is - and have gone around and around (and around!) the mobile mounting situation for five years. I own fifteen different PDAs for development and testing.

Arkon's stuff tends towards the clunky. Their newer mount is a little more accommodating to my needs, but doesn't handle "collapsing" PDA's like the Palm Tungsten T line. And don't get me started with the cupholder mount - I have scars on my knuckles from "interference" with the parking brake.

There is another company who better addresses the mounting situation for certain PDAs, http://www.revolvedesign.com. Sadly, they have not responded well to the current Palm OS hardware layout, and only support a limited number of iPaq models.

I have half a mind to develop my own for sale, but there are two problems with this market at the moment. First is that PDA models change like underwear, and it's just impossible to buy one of everything for development (although I've tried!). Second is that mobile mounting of electronic devices is becoming a huge liability area. The safety-niks are zooming in really fast on mobile electronics as a factor in traffic accidents, and all it takes is one lawyer "spreading the wealth" to bankrupt a small business.

I shopped around for a mount for my iPaq and ended up using 2$ worth of velcro from the dollar store. Just below the hazard button is a perfect spot for the iPaq. I also put 2 strips just below the shift lever (above the subwoofer) so we can use the iPaq in landscape mode to watch movies.

It's never come off and is really close so reach is not a problem when selecting mp3s or movies. In addition we use the iPaq inside the house on the wireless network to check email in the family room, so with the velcro solution when the iPaq's not in the E there's no empty cradle to deal with.

I mentioned this before in an earlier post. www.arkon.com is giving a $10.00 discount to all "Honda Element Owners Club forum members". They seem to have been making mounting solutions for over 15 years and they have a money back gaurantee on all their products. What more can you ask for? The discount applies to only their Powered and GPS mounting solutions. offer is valid until June 31st. They also have several Sony PSP mounting solution. There's a $5.00 off discount for forum members. http://www.arkon.com/pspmount.php
