: Lift the E?

I wonder if anyone has done any suspension mods to the E yet?
I have heard that there is a 1" lift available for the CRV but I have heard nothing about the E yet.

Dont get me wrong I dont want to go sky high with 44" monster mudders or anything... I just want to give my car a bit more aggressive look and better off road performance for ski trips and such.

Any tips or input?

Good question, though if I were going to lift my E I'd do it to the max and throw some 44" mudders on there... hehe

>1" lift available for the CRV

If I recall that's a spring swap. The fully-extended spring length is the same, but the spring force is increased to result in the lift. I'm looking around for a spring perch spacer that should accomplish the same thing without changing the stock spring ratio; I like it as it is.

Lifting FWD-based AWDs is not like lifting traditional 4x4s.

Beyond about 2" of chassis lift you're talking about modifying half-shafts, and that's provided you can lift just suspension bits and not have to bring the drivetrain subframe along for the ride (negating most of your lift). Once you do that, then there's the CV joint operating angle problem, which will accelerate wear/breakage.

RWD-based 4x4's have long driveshafts with U-joints to both axles, and tolerate much more lift because the operating angle increase is very small, relatively speaking.

And none of this addresses the small engine vs. big tires issue and the resulting influence on final drive ratio. Unless you can find custom differential gearing for both axles (highly, highly unlikely), the end result will be something that can barely get out of its own way.

Bottom line - extreme lift is possible, but it'll be mostly undrivable.

Your're about to make me cry.. j/k I was joking about lifting it that extreme, thought I'd like a 5" lift I'm still undecided as th wether or not I want to lower it or lft it

When you find the spacer could you post it. 1" extra lift would be nice.

I've encountered numerous situations where 1" extra height would have been ideal...I'm looking into this through several off-road joints around here, I'll post when I get some relevant info...

Good I don't wanna leave mine stock and I'm battleing between lifting and lowering, but after seeing my bosses Jeep lifted thats what I want

Two or three companies make urethane spacers for the top of the coil springs to get 1" to 2" of lift. I saw one outfit that recommended the spacer plus an "enhanced" coil replacement to get 3" (I certainly wouldn't do that).

I found this stuff all over the place for Ford, Dodge, Chevy, Toyota, Jeep... and not one Honda anything mentioned anywhere.

Jesse, let us know what you find. If you find somebody willing to check spring sizes to cross-reference to spacers for other makes/models you might take advantage of it.

Geez, we've been talking about this one forever haven't we? Seems like some want lift, some want lower, and some want to leave it alone. Anyways, do a search. There's a lot out there about it in this and the other forums. I seem to recall that I covered this like back in October or something....Wait....here it is...

That they are not currently considering a lift kit for the E. BUT, they also said don't rule out the possibility that they might produce one in the future. The kit they have for the CRV didn't come out until that vehicle was in it's 2nd or 3rd year(or so he said)...that's the update for now, more to come as I hear back from others.
