I am looking for opinions on replacement door speakers w/ excellent midrange.
i've decided to go w/ JBL GTO 15T 1" Kaladex Dome tweeters up front and put component speakers in the front door panels. Any suggestions for brands w/ exceptional midrange? (i've heard Infinity might be a bit flat).
Any integrated door speakers for the rear w/ excellent midrange?

If you're looking for "good" mids - that is - speakers that accurately reproduce the middle frequency range - I'd suggest a number of brands including Focal, MB Quart, JL Audio, and Crystal Mobile.
BTW, if you speak with sound engineers, the concept of "good" being anything other than dead flat response is absurd. Accurate reproduction is considered the ideal. Anything that strays from perfectly flat response is outside the norm and is considered less desirable (to a purist at least).
When most non-sound engineers use the term "flat" they usually are indicating that the speaker is not balanced properly across the entire sound range. In other words it's not producing enough of one range or another to sound balanced with the rest of the range of the speaker. This can happen because there is too much emphasis on the lows and highs or simply a lack of emphasis on the midrange itself. All of this is of course a deviation from perfectly flat response where highs mids and lows all blend perfectly at the same levels - flat. :)
That being said some manufacturers know that a certain demographic buys thier speakers because they've perpetuated a certain brand image often involving specific music genres - therefore they alter the characteristics of thier speakers slightly in order to emphasize the special characteristics of the music, presumably pleasing listeners of said music. JBL for example has been a favorite of classic rock listeners because JBL has exaggerated the lower end of the midrange and middle highs slightly while sacrificing bass, upper mids and sharp highs. Infinity seems to play more to the low powered systems making thier speakers efficient - sacrificing bass response but giving an abundance of sharp highs IMHO.
Most purists find this type of manufaturer behavior puzzling since nearly all modern audio systems have the ability to far more flexibly and easily change sound characteristics by using equalizers. If all speaker manufacturers strived to hit perfectly flat response then everything would be easier for everyone to deal with by just using the EQ like salt and pepper - just season to taste. :)
Sorry for the long winded over-explanation but it's a topic that I felt many might appreciate.
Good luck with your system! :D

no, i really appreciate the long winded explanation, i needed someone to hold my hand through this. My music is electronic (think chemical brothers) and for rock it's 90's rock (pearl jam / weezer) and classic (zeppelin / hendrix). According to your descriptions though i think i should go w/ JBL .
So can you suggest a good component speaker for the front doors and good rear integrated speaker for the rear doors made by JBL?
