: Is your E Male or Female?

Do you refer to your E as a female? or a Male?

Stick

I don't get the whole personification/naming thing. IT is a car. IT is neither male nor female, nor is it animal or vegetable.

I don't mean to come off as hostile or anything, but it's akin to calling a desk lamp a boy (or girl).

"Hi, I'm the proud new owner of a Details 120V, 60 Hz fluorescent lamp! I call him Harry. I'm sure he's going to be much more reliable than that bitchy incandescent he's replacing. She was the worst lamp ever. She must have blew a bulb at least once a month! All of my friends think Harry is the cutest lamp they've seen, and now everyone wants to borrow him when they've got reports to read."

Am I the only one who finds that a bit silly, to say the least??

Silly yes, do I take everything here on site serious, no. The eoc has a certain entertainment aspect, which is why I think things like this poll are funny.

..hehe
people prescibe personalities to inanimate objects all the time. for instance. boats. (although i never understood why when women were supposedly bad luck at sea. they would grant a boat a feminine personality) silly perhaps but its a human trait. so dont get all logical on me dagnabbit.

so your E is named harry eh? *snikker*

i named mine maggie. for short and inspired by the Dead's "Sugar Magnolia" dunno why. just happened, could be because the E just brought back lots of microbus memories and well dead was the first or second disc into the cd player..

If I decided to call my EBP the Blue Pearl would that be feminine or masculine?

BlackdogStudios
01-21-2004, 12:53 PM
would be inanimate, since a pearl is an object. or perhaps female. (i know a couple of elderly ladies named Pearl) so in the end. it might be your inspiration that brings it gender?

Sorry, but our E is an "it". The only vehicle I have owned that had enough of a personality for a designated gender was an Italian exotic. I won't elaborate any further out of fear of drawing the rage and wrath of certain forum regulars.

Well slap my A$$ and call me silly!

I always have named my cars, and always will.....after all I keep them for 10+ years and they become part of me in a way....my last car was Casper the friendly POS White Chevy Cavalier, and my E has become Baby Blue, because my E was my first brand new car ever and he is my baby!

Perhaps I am a bit insane, but then again I have been called worse. To each his own....did I mention I also have over 100 stuffed penguins and they each have a name having to do something with Beer??

*giggles* Everyone has to have their hobbies!

Gotta be male. Too ug- I mean, unique, to be a girl...

Look at that studly face - it's like when you look at a baby and can tell whether it's a boy or girl without asking. This one is a boy.

:D My E is a girl. Well, actually, all my automobiles have been female. I don't know if that has something to do with the fact that I'm a female or what...

Oh, by the way, her name is Babygirl... I guess with all the original names out there, I could come up with something more original..

E ON!!!

Gotta go with "it."

Too bad there's no option for that on the poll. I'd be interested to see how all three choices played. out.

Hahaha, I agree, IT is a vehicle and IT isn't male or female. :D I have trouble naming my Element...heck, I even have trouble calling it an "E." (I always think of the Mercedes-Benz E Class when I hear "E.")

Having said that, I also think it's great that other people DO name their cars and have given the Element a nickname. It makes this site so very entertaining and A LOT of fun to be a member of!

I can see from the topsy-turvy, upside down, left-to-right direction this "strange-subject" thread has taken, that we Element owners have WAYYYYYYYY too much time on our hands. OK, now everyone...take your happy pills and lie down. There......that's better, isn't it?
