ok, for the harnesses for the speakers (4), do i need these

<<6. Speaker harness adapters - Part # 72-7800 (need 2 pairs) $7.25 ea. + shipping @ http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=265-775 - these are so you don't have to cut your factory wires to install the speakers.

or just a regular Honda speaker connector? or are they the same? can't i just run down to Circuit City and grab these instead of paying shipping? What do i ask for?

Yeah, circuit city should have them. Print out the picture and/or part #s, though: there are actually two (2) common types of honda/acura speaker connectors, you want to make sure you get the right one.

Alternately, remove one of your speakers to compare the connector against (through the bag) at the CC counter.

They are cheaper at CC, I paid 6.99 per kit.

on a similar note, do I need to purchase new speaker wire?

i plan on adding an amp to my setup, so do i need to add speaker wire and splice/crimp it to the existing factory speaker wires....and then add a speaker harness at the end to connect the new speakers???

or would I need to replace all the speaker wiring?

and, if it doesn't matter, i'm assuming that replacing all the speaker wiring would be preferable. any suggestions on how to do that?

This link has the correct polarity for honda door speaker wires. I couldn't find the adapters where I live (until I was already done with the install of course), but I found this think so if you decide to cut & spice, you'll get the wires right. Hope this helps...

Thanks Chapds,

I was thinking about the wiring that I saw tonight (I had to inspect the installation done by a local shop) and realized that they might have screwed up. And I also noticed that when fiddle with the Balance control, the left side is always on regardless if I balance the output to the right side.

Weird, huh. Well, at least I know which wires to look out for. Thanks!

Well, I took a look again at the wiring today...the polarity/wire scheme from Chap's link is incorrect. Sorry chaps.
