I figured I'd ask the dealers - have you dealt with UBS (United Buyers Service) setting a price a bit above invoice?

This is what I came out with, once I had negotiated with them:

2004 Element EX, Blue, 4WD, Auto: $20,143. (This includes delivery, includes the standard $220 processing fee [yeah, stupidly high] and the only remaining cost would be Tax and Tags.)

Plus, they would include Fog lights and likely one other small accessory (rear-trim?)

Any comments? (It has no other options - no wheel locks, no splash guards, no pin stripes... just the regular stuff, keyless entry, armrest storage)

So, what is that compared to invoice?

4WD EX Auto Invoice: $19,493 MSRP: $21,100

That doesn't include the $490 shipping fee. Total invoice with shipping: $19,983

JMO but that sounds like a fair to me. I paid $250 over invoice plus the $490 destination which included everything except tax, title, and license.

You could get it from Mike in San Antonio for $19,783, including the destination.

But you are getting fog lights, too, which I guess is nice.

UBS' deal doesn't look great, but it looks okay, I guess.

Ok, be gentle to the forum newbie here.

I am in KC MO, and the dealers here still have some 2003 EX AWD, auto models left.

Realistically, what can I get this vehicle for? I know the factory has to be wanting to get these things sold, but the dealers seem to be wanting to sell 03's for 04's prices.

Here is what the local dealers have
03 EX AWD Auto - silver or orange

One dealer barely wants to sell the silver for less than MSRP
One dealer wants to sell the orange for 18999

Does anyone know how to get them to sell me one near 17500? Is that way too low? I have the finiancing in hand already - and have walked out two of the three dealers showrooms already.

Help please.

I'd push for around $17,500 or $18,000.... This is totally out of the blue, and they might not go for it. In fact, they probably won't... But I'd stick to my guns for a while.

Push 'em - tell them that to even make it worthwhile and equivalent to the 2004, you'd need to add a side armrest, install the keyless entry, and you'd be taking a big hit since it's already mid April of 2004 - in a few months the car would be two years old... With the cost of the additions plus the installation fee - you'd be looking close to what you could get a 2004 for.

Kelley Blue Book on the car is around $21k - it still doesn't reflect the general loss that you'd find if you would have to get rid of it.

And the loss that they have of keeping another car on the lot adds up - they've had it for now over four months... Their holdback is spent, they are losing money each day they hold it. Play hardball and see who bites.

where can I find the true dealer invoice for a 2003 Element?

All the web wants to give me a 2004 invoice.

Here is what I want to know:

2003 EX - orange
automatic
AWD
wheel locks (i guess since everyone has them)

no mud flaps, no bug shield, no roof rack, no rear spoiler, no side steps, no keyless entry, no nothing extra.

64131 zip code if it makes a difference.
anyone?
