Are you talking about the computer chip in the key that won't let the engine start without the proper key in the ignition?

If that is the case, you do have it. The Immobilizer is standard.

Yes only a Honda dealer can make you a key.

RML

Yeah, that is the only problem with the keys and the microchip.

I have heard prices for such keys being around 100 bucks, so this just makes you that much more careful with em eh?

RML

Gypsytda,

That sounds real high. The dealers around here are only getting about $50

GYPSYTDA

still 50 bucks for a key, they are gold, hold them close, protect them.. grin!

But the price i had heard was for those American Cars, not hondas.. we know they overcharge horribly anyhow!

Sharp,

Thanks, I would guess that the prices are a bit higher in places like NY City and other big cities.

sharp thank you very much, that is excellent research, very much appreciated.

Yeah odds are the one was working via memory.

the key tag is a piece of paper, that was attached to your keys, that has info on it.. check with the pack of stuff you received with your vehicle (the manual and stuff) odds are it is in there, it should be in there.

I had 3 tags for the valet, and 2 master keys.

they gave us the keys with out the key ring attached, the tags in another pile, and 2 gift keychains.. with the cool cable lock on them.. really nice.

The went through paper by paper to make sure everything was there and we had everything.

I hope your dealer just popped them in a file and did not dispose of them!

My salesman attached an adhesive tag with the key number and one with the radio number to my Flip through owners manual, and then wrote them on the inside cover of the big manual. We also recieved a card with the radio number printed on it.

Is it true you are not supposed to have your Element keys next to or near other metal keys or a metal key chain even? I think I read that somewhere. Anyway to be safe I have it alone on a plastic key chain. :?:

We have our alarm remote on the same ring as our house key, and Element key. We have never had a problem. The Honda key has a small chip in it. As with many electronic items, you have a bit of rf questions. Is whatever you have on the keyring causing problems to the chip, and if it does, remove it. If you don't have problems, don't worry about it.

If you go to your dealer and ask one of the service advisors to look up you vin or stock number on his computer.............the code for your radio and etc. will be in the data base for you vehicle. When I was taking deliverly of my Element I was shown the service department and introduced one of the service advisors and she looked mine up and wrote down and told me not to lose it in case I lost my keys or whatever....

Gypsy, why is it, whenever I see something posted by Sharp, all I see is "xxxx"?? Others seems to read what he is saying, but not me. Am I on the low end of the totem pole and need to download a "Sharp translater device" or sompin like dat???

Also, someone posted a link about riced out cars, and dogone if I can find it again! Would ya send that to me, if YOU can find it? Feel free to email me, Roger that??
