Went to Herson's Honda in Rockville, MD today to take a close up look at the 2010 E... saw an EX and really liked what I saw (no time for a test drive today, unfortunately)... I was surprised to hear a sale's representative say that the Elements were hard to keep on the lot as they were really popular... I take this as a positive sign for the longevity of the Element.

I would call it sales spin. Not that many shipped, hence most dealers have very few.

I tend to agree with you.........sales hype, bait, whatever you want to call it.
But I do wish Honda would promote the E more. It offers so much to a certain segment of the population. I think they are just missing out on this little gem ;-)

I can count how many 2009-2010's we have sold on one had.

Only 4 since april 2009....And 3 of those were Honda employee orders.

We have not had one in stock since we sold our last 2008 in march of 2009.

Would definitely explain why they "can't keep them on the lot" if they have none to begin with...

Why aren't Honda Elements being shipped this year to dealerships. Very hard to find a dealership in my area (Northern Ca) with more than 2.

Welcome, Lozen.

Dealers don't have Elements because they don't order them. The Element is a low-volume, low-profit model, and dealers would rather sell you something else. Also, Honda barely advertises it, which makes it hard to blame the dealers. The fewer Elements that are displayed on lots, the fewer get sold. The fewer that get sold this year, the fewer get ordered next year, and the sales numbers continue to decline ... it's a vicious circle.

I'm in NY between Albany & NYC and my closest dealer hasn't a single Element on the lot. Rarely does. What gives? This same dealer never has Civic SI's either. Honda should pay attention.....there are shoppers out here looking for new Elements, but if their dealers refuse to carry any, I'll have to shop for something else to fill the void, and obviously it won't be a Honda. They are loosing sales, period. Maybe someone should open an Element dealership. Has anyone special ordered an Element? I read recently on one of the threads that you can still get a manual Element, but it would have to be special order. Can this truly be done? Anyone tried special ordering a manual with success? Anyone hear when the 2011's will be out? Perhaps the manual transmission will hopefully be back.

I'd like to see proof of that special-ordering.

There's a nice black one sitting in the downtown Toronto dealership.

My mom currently is in the Military overseas & is moving back to the states. Last month she was in Florida taking care of my sick grandmother (also has another house there) and when she had a little spare time went car shopping.
Out of the 3 dealers in her area they all had dark grey elements in stock and were eager to push them out of the door. Sadly she didn't end up buying the truck there since she wanted an omni blue.

Anyhow, she's relocating to new mexico (buying another house) so when she was out there... same thing... few dealers & only gunmetal color lol
So she called me up like...well I am taking your advice and ordering the omni blue, there has to be something up with is since NOONE HAS IT in two states.

She's very excited to get her new truck and should be coming back to the states by the end of September

I didn't have the heart to tell her that dealers don't really stock the car...who am i to ruin her fun ;)

There was 1 Omni Blue Pearl on the lot here in Wichita a week or so ago, but it was a DX (it had steel wheels anyway).

Sadly it may be one of the last.

I have yet to confirm this....But to no real surprise it has been hinted to me by someone that actually does know what they are talking about that due to that the Element is not going to be imported into Canada for 2011.

I read an artical from a link out here that led me to believe that the 2011 Elements will offer a 5 speed manual (USA) . Anyone hear or know anything definitive about that? I hope it's dead on.

That doesn't sound promising. Earlier this summer I also spotted a new E at Ready Honda in Mississauga. But the $30K+ sticker price necessitated the purchase of a good used one.

Though it's a low inventory vehicle to start with, the Element is EXTREMELY popular in this area. Central Virginia especially seems to love Elements. :)

My mother in northern NJ didn't even know what one was when I told her I was buying one.

Canada was a limited market to begin with. Back in January 2003 when the E first hit the lot when i was working at Parkway we sold about 14 in the first 3 weeks the were available. My GGM was #7 or 8. I had originally ordered a SOP that i was going to have to wait 2 months for. I recieved a call one morning that the GMM had just come off the truck a few minutes ago was was unsold....I have 5 minutes to decide on it. After decent sales for the first couple years they trickled down. Bringing out the EX-P and Sc models did help spark sales for a while. Now it is not uncommon to see dealers with the same E's sitting on the lot for a few months if not longer.
Would it surprise me if there was no E for 2011 in Canada? Not really.
