One of the things I've noticed is that the E doesn't have a handle on the inside to release the top half of the rear hatch. Just a thought. :-)

Just did another one this past weekend, this time using an OEM liftgate handle.

Ramblerdan did this mod on my E and I just got the nut covers and it looks much cleaner than this now.

If I was in the back of the Element I'd just go out the side door If I wanted out. If I needed to open the hatch I could just walk to the back. I don't see the need outweighing the trouble to make an inside latch work. I sure hope it doesn't pop open while your driving. That would be an eye opener.

You've never gone camping and slept in your E with the back door closed, have you?

I'm actually going to install a momentary pushbutton hooked to a trunk popper solenoid on mine this weekend just for this reason. Will be sure to post pics as I go.
