Hey everyone. Some :evil: A$$ stole my beloved Pioneer Premier out of my Element the other day. Alarm didn't go off :( Right under my bedroom window where I slept, and I didn't (nor my German Shepherd) hear the glass shatter, or the rustling. Guess I should've removed the faceplate all the time.

Well, this is a discontinued model, so I was wondering, what's the replacement? I'm googling, and not coming up with what it is. Just finding old websites with the model I had on it. I paid almost $600 for the thing. Grrrr. I care most about sound quality. Just want really great sound. And I have an iPod adapter and XM adapter for Pioneer, so need to stick with the brand.

Hehehe! Yeah, that would be a surprise! I need to figure out why the alarm didn't sound. Is that normal when the glass is shattered? It honks when I press the button. I've never heard it go off, though. I don't know how sensitive they are. I hope it's the fault of the auto body shop, so they can buy me a new head unit! And fix the three dings the putz left on my door, and scratches on interior door.

Maybe an aftermarket alarm system ?

Im curious, Do you have an keyless entry fob and no alarm? Or do you for sure have an alarm. When I had my honda key fob I had no alarm, I could push the panic button and I can honk the horn when locking as a confirmation. But none of that is an alarm.

What ones are those? Do you have links? At least it's less than I paid 3 years ago. I'd love an upgrade, though.

I use my iPhone for a GPS. So I only care about sound quality. If I don't need navigation (and that would seem more likely to be a thief magnet I would think?) then maybe I should get the same one. I saw this other one last night, but can't find where it's for sale ....Pioneer DEX-PR99RS

If you go aftermarket I'd recommend a model manufactured by DEI. One of the installers here should be able to point you in a good direction.

I have a Viper 5701. It has 1/2 mile range. Remote start. silent alarm option. The remote vibrates and sounds when in my pocket and my car alarm goes off. I love it, one step up is the viper 5901 does everything the same except it has an LCD screen 1 mile range and the ability to see temperature in numbers. my 5701 shows temp with leds instead. Can also add the ability to roll windows up and down. It is aftermarket and costs about 600 bucks.

You could go with OEM which is basically plug and play except the hole the drill for the LED that blinks on your dash.
