i started out in my E thinking that 3 black boxes on my volume level was enough, then realized that 4 was my LOUD setting and was happy w/ that.
3 for quiet city driving w/ not much wind noise, 4 for the interstate.
not I'm up into the 5s w/ the same discs that i was playing on 3 or 4 before.
i realize some CDs are at different volumes than others and adjustments have to be made. But w/ my factory Honda Civic speakers i had before my E i found the need to keep increasing the volume until my car's end.
so what makes speakers do this? W/ my new CDTs having less "efficiency" as i am expecting due to other posts about it, im afraid that i might max out my volume in no time. (not really but you get what i mean).
am i damaging my speakers?
ANOTHER question.... on some of my trips around the middle half of a disc i hear this nasty light scratching sound that comes from the speakers. It sounds like the disc spinning in the receiver, because the sound comes around full circle every 3 or so seconds, but the sound usually stays somewhat the same.
i listen to mainly trance/techno w/ thumping bass and could possibly have done irreversible damage to my speakers. I have had the bass at +2 and just realized this weekend that i should turn bass to at least the C or zero setting and the sub up so that all my bass comes from the sub, not my speakers. Hopefully when i install the new CDT speakers i wont hear this sound, or else it's the receiver, in that case i'm going aftermarket for sure.
