: Operation black out continues! (Tint content)

In my slow-moving quest to badassify and blackout the E, I've taken one more step today. I had the front windows and taillights tinted. I had them try to match the front to the factory tint and the taillights I told them to make slightly darker, but not too dark so you can't see them during normal day and night time operation. Here are a couple pics I took right after:

Next on the list is possibly painting or putting black vinyl over that silver panel on the back.

Looking good!! I would paint the back panel. Its already painted from the
factory, so Im guessing a light sanding and paint should go right on.

Keep us posted with all your mods!!

Shouldnt be hard, check in your manual for the section on bulb replacement and voila removed.

Then just swap in housings.

I bought those same side markers on eBay. They are decent enough quality. Takes two minutes to install.

The only trick is, when removing your factory orange ones, you can easily break them by needing to wedge them out away from the car so much that the pointy end cracks. Just something to be careful about.

Looking really good there Sir. 8)

Have you thought about blacking out, or removing your emblems? Also, some black tasteful looking tag frames would be a nice addition to your E. I'd recommend WeatherTech tag frames, I have them on my E and I think the look great. :-)

Looks noice! I will color the grill and the rear silver piece something like a matte/semi-gloss black just to be sophisticated IMO.

The rear H emblem's already gone  Front H is near impossible since it is integrated into the plastic molding around the grille. I'm still debating taking the Element/4WD emblems off because I kinda like 'em. Maybe painting them black is the way to go. I wish more than anything I could take the H off the front grille without cutting and making the grille look like crap.

That is a REALLY nice tag frame. I'll probably order it. Thanks for the tip!

You could get the ELEMENT emblem for the back of your E from the SC model.
It comes in black already!!

Amish do this to Impala's and Crown Vic's to comply with their "plain-ness" code. Ironically, it ends up making the cars look bad-ass. That plus the ZZTop beards and you've got some cultural confusion.

when you tinted your front windows.

I removed the sticker already,im sure you did the same.

what did you do about the black factory writing. ive had cars in the bast with a dotted design on rear window and i hated what it looked like when tinted.

if you removed the writing what did you use?

The window tint place removed the sticker themselves and the black factory writing stayed on the window. If they're doing a professional job you shouldn't really notice that it's even there under the tint film.

EDIT: Ok, here's a picture of the lettering through the tint film from the inside... as you can see, in the pic it's virtually undetectable that there's even tint over it. If you get up really close, with the naked eye, and look at it, you can see where the tint is SLIGHTLY raised off the window around the lettering. It's so slight though that you'd have to look for it to see it and it poses no issues.

I took your advice on the side marker light and I'm pricing out getting the front grille trim and rear trim painted body-color as we speak. Thanks for the tip on those side markers!!

They look smoked from the side and straight on, but for some reason when i took a close-up pic, it came out more clear than smoked. To the naked eye, however, it doesn't look that clear. I took a few pics of them below.

Here's the pic where it looks somewhat clear instead of smoked -- it's a camera trick because it definitely looks smoked in real life. Also, there's me looking stupid in the reflection :-)

Hey,

If you need a good body shop that is relatively "close"
I know of a good one in staten island, pm me if you want the name.

Glad you like the side markers, they probably look clear in the pix because the camera is picking up the reflections

Next up you should pick up the SC "black" Element badge
I just got one for my Atomic Blue LX (to match the black panels not to try to look like an sc!)
Sorry for the horrendous pic :)
